Raise Your Hand If You've Never Seen One Of Your Teams Win A Championship
<raises hand>

I didn't watch the Mets win the series in 1986. I got into baseball two years later.
I wasn't born in 1968 when the Jets won the Super Bowl.
I was an infant during the Islanders Stanley Cup victories.
And my Nets have never won an NBA Championship.

:(

So I sit at my computer and read all these happy Red Sox and White Sox and Patriots and Spurs and Pistons and Lightning (well, maybe not Lightning) fans crow about their teams.

And I just sit and wait. Hoping, to one day share the joy that you folks feel.

I envy you people.

One day I shall taste sweet victory. One day a team I follow will be on top of the world. Its 15 years and conting since I started following sports. Some day my team will win.

1. 10 years, 6 Superbowls
I've seen I think 9 Champions in the past 25 years, across all sports as I've moved around, but the past ten have been interesting.

In the past ten years. I've lived in Dallas in 96, Green Bay (well I was in Madison, which counts) in 97, then New England (various places in and around Boston) for their three times, and hopefully this year the Steelers...

I've lived in the winning city, if Pittsburgh wins, 60% of the time over the past decade, but only seen my team win once.

Bugger.

2. I have too many teams that I follow.
Packers, Redskins, NC State have all won while I was watching.

Those that did not:
Cubs, Brewers, Hurricanes, Car. Panthers, Hornets (no longer), Bills.

7. Well we're in year two of Isiah's plan to destroy the franchise
He's doing pretty well so far.

Maybe we can hope he gets ousted in the sexual harrassment claim.

5. Only one of my teams has ever won a championship
The Twins, who have won two, in 1987 and 1991!

The Vikings have been to four Superbowls - lost all four.

The Northstars were in two Stanley Cups - lost both.

The Wild have been in the playoffs once - lost to Anaheim in the semifinals.

The Timberwolves have been in the playoffs several times, only advancing out of the first round once, and lost to the Lakers in the quarterfinals.

The Gopher Men's Basketball team was in the Final Four once...oh yeah, that's right, they were there and played, but that accolade was stripped by the NCAA over the Clem Haskins mess. So they really were not there, but they were....or something.

10. The Phillies won the Series in 1980.
When I was 10.

The Sixers won in 1983 but I didn't care so it's been 25 years since anyone I cared about won.

It's rough being a Philly fan.

12. Here's mine
1980 Phillies- was starting Navy basic training at the time. Phillies won.

1983 Sixers- beat the Lakers in a four game sweep.

Redskins- was stationed in the D.C. area. They won one Super Bowl and lost to the Raiders the following year.

Braves- was stationed in Charleston, SC. The first year the Braves went to the World Series, they lost to the Minnesota Twins.

Got to see both the Eagles and Redskins play pre-season games in North Carolina. This was test marketing to see if the area could support a pro football team. (way before the Panthers) Both teams lost to the Jets.

16. It's easy to say this when your team HAS won a championship
but you find that it's never enough! ;)

Actually, as a Cowboys, Spurs, and most especially, a Longhorns fan, I don't feel like being greedy right now but watch me when March Madness, the College World Series, and the NBA playoffs start -- I'll be screaming for more!

However, I wish for you the eventual joy of seeing a team of yours make it all the way (as long as it doesn't beat one of mine!) :hi:

17. Was old enough to see all of the Oakland A's & Raiders.....
Championships, but wasn't into basketball yet when the Warriors won in '76. Of course, the Canadiens have won several Stanley Cups since I was old enough to remember.

It's fun to be an Oakland sports fan!

18. Let's See
Baseball:
Yankees won in 96, 98, 99, 00

Football:
Giants have not won the Super Bowl in my life. (They won the SB 10 months before I was born)
They have won an NFC Championship in my life

Basketball:
I don't have a favorite team per se. I just like whatever team Shaq is on.
So the Lakers won 3 and the Heat haven't.
(For some reason I don't like either the Nets or Knicks. Don't know why.)

Hockey:
The Rangers won one Stanly Cup in my life.

College:
None.
Princeton has yet to win a championship, in my life. (They do have 24 football chapionships. Didn't know that did you? Most all-time.)

21. Despite being a Cub fan, my teams have won 7 titles in my
lifetime.

Bulls 6

Bears 1

Blackhawks 0

Cubs 0

Iowa Hawkeyes 0 (basketball and football)

Being a hardcore fan for years and then winning a title is a feeling bandwagoners will never experience.
