The Steelers and "Destiny"
Now, I honestly don't believe there's such a thing as "destiny" in sports.

But sometimes, a team gets on a roll, and for whatever reason, everything seems to go their way.

The Steelers have been having one of those years in the playoffs, and it happened again yesterady.

On their opening drive, Roethlisberger threw a pass to Hines Ward that absolutely should have been picked off and returned for a TD by Champ Bailey. Instead it bounces off Bailey, and lands in the arms of Ward for a first down.

Later in the game, Willie Parker fumbles the ball, but it rolls harmlessly out of bounds with no Denver player within 5 yards of it.

I'm an NFC guy, but if I was a betting man, I'd have to take the Steelers. They're just having one of those runs where even when they step in sh*t they come out smelling like a rose.

2. I don't know if there's destiny, but there are times when certain teams
have "it." I thought my beloved Red Sox acquired it after the ACLS, Game 5, and the year before I think the Florida Marlins had "it."

However, I don't think the Steelers have "it." I think people are being very blind if they're already popping the champagne in Pittsburgh.

4. I thought it was a reference to Destiny Davis
She was a playmate from Las Vegas about a year ago and I've seen her at many UNLV events. The Steelers could do worse than hook up with her.

6. Nobody in Pittsburgh is talking Destiny
I haven't heard that from a single person. There's talk about the team's ethic, about how they're concentrating and going one game at a time, and working hard...They're talking about how well Ben is playing...

No destiny talk.

A Steelers fan is going to say that they have no doubt the Steelers will win, but don't mistake that for a belief that this is a team of destiny, or a blind devotion to the team (though in some cases that would apply), or anything that would take away from Seattle.

The national media likes to bandy about the word destiny, but the Steelers aren't using it, and Pittsburgh isn't use it. Destiny is crap. Destiny doesn't win football games.

Good teams win football games by playing hard, and not making mistakes.
