18. Thanks - everyone once in a while I like to check to see
how 'inclusive' DUers really are by posting something in the sports forum. So far, no one has suggested that I be tied to train tracks shortly before the noon express comes through town.

19. We're debating it behind closed doors. I think you'll survive, though
The White Sox fans are too happy to care, and the St Louis fans are on the verge of depression.

22. If it increases the possibility that I will survive, I will add that
I grew up in St. Louis when Ozzie Smith was doing backflips in the Cards backfield - the magic of the Cards during the 80's was something to behold. I took a B&W TV to grad school with me and broke down and bought a color TV to watch the World Series in color. To all St. Louis fans: Buck Up! The Cards Will Rise Again!

There are fireworks exploding all over Oak Lawn right now.

I'm thinking of my beloved Daddy and my brother Terry right now. I know there's a huge party going on in heaven right now and they're both right in the middle of it.

Congratulations to every Sox player and fan. You guys deserve it!!!!

21. Hey Kanrok, I'm a female, but any Cub fan that won't
congratulate the Sox are not REAL baseball fans IMHO.

I have to admit that some Sox fans can be really over the top when it comes to the Cubs, but what the hell, we're all Chicagoans.

As for the controversy in game 2, the Angel's catcher made a fundamental mistake. He should of tagged Pierzynski with the ball instead of rolling it out back towards the mound.

The celebrations here on the South Side will be going on far into the morning. Methinks there will be a lot of Sox "flu" called in to various employers tomorrow.

40. that's just a troll

...and probably not from Chicago.

The east coast is realllly burned by this, as you can tell from the silence.

They like to pretend that Sox and Cub fans don't know each other.

"no class" means "not in the register"....i.e., their private social register

You ought to retort with, "and you have no star."

42. You may be right.
For all the big mouth anti-Cub Sox fans and all the big mouth anti-Sox Cub fans, there are at least ten fans on each side happy to see the other win on those few years that it happens. At least that's my anecdotal experience over the years.

And it does burn me up to see so many east coasters ignoring the teams left this year. If you're truly a baseball fan, you should be watching, no matter what. This is still the most exciting time of year. I seldom have a dog in the hunt myself, and I don't this year, but I'm still loving every minute of October!

54. Sorry, Einstein, no troll here.
I'm from Chicago. Down to my deep dish pizza, vienna beef hot dog eating core. (No, you can't get good pizza or hot dogs here in the South.)

I only wish that there were a small minority of anti-Cub Sox fans. And in all honesty, the amount of anti-Sox Cub fans is quite small since most Cub fans don't give a rat's heine about the Sox.

I'm just tired of all the vitriol directed at Cub fans from Sox fans. It's what they dish out, sorry if they can't take it when its directed at them.

Chicagoans at heart right.

Can we please forgot about the Cubs v. Sox thing and just enjoy the fact that an actual World Series will be played in Chicago?

Let's enjoy, God only knows when it will happen again...

35. I would agree ... if this were 1983.
I rooted for the Sox that year and then imagine my surprise in 1984 when every White Sox fan I ran into during the playoffs told me to fuck off and die with the Cubs!

I have never seen a more twisted fan base than White Sox fans. Here at the most important time in their lives as Sox fans, all they can do is rag on the Cubs ... Guess that is what happens when your only claim to fame as a White Sox fan is your HATRED of all things CUB.

Pathetic, disgusting.

Hope those blown calls come back to bite ya ...

39. Hey Chi-Town Exile, I remember back in 1969 when the Cubs
blew it and the crap I put up with then as a South Side Cub fan.

There's twisted people everywhere and I refuse to lower myself to their level.

Any real fan of baseball will appreciate and understand what the Sox accomplished this year.

I'm just happy that there will be an actual World Series played in Chicago. I was too young in 1959, not quite six years old, to understand what it meant.

Besides, the Sox haven't won the Series yet. They still have 4 more games to win.

41. well, perhaps

Perhaps you should save your breath and consider why.

Perhaps you should ask them what the Tribune Company did to them.

It was criminal.

Then come back and tell us that we have "no class".

At least our owner doesn't do business with the mob.

That's a fact. Why don't you head on up there and ask.

It's not about REAL Cub fans, who know all of this business.

It's about the fakes who are really just investors and apologists for a criminal media corporation.

Sorry, the truth hurts.

52. Because I don't root for the Sox, I root for the Tribune?
That's quite a stretch ... even for a White Sox fan.

Just because I root for my team doesn't mean I like the owner. The Tribune Company is rotten to the core.

Just because I pointed out how nasty, mean and disgusting White Sox fans are to Cub fans, you're attacking the messenger?

You're the people that need to grow up. I didn't come across one bozo that hated the Cubs, it's the WHOLE fan base.

All White Sox fans have as an identity is their hatred of the Cubs. That's the truth and you know it.

I'll root for the Sox when Sox fans root for the Cubs in the same situation. There's as much a chance of that happening as Bush getting impeached. Zippo Nada. In fact, there is more of a chance that Bush will be impeached than the Cubs getting to the World Series and White Sox fans rooting for them if they did! LOL

53. Yes I am Will, when it comes to Sox fans.
I have NEVER met ONE Sox fan that wasn't an asshole to me about being a Cubs fan. (Other than my father, who was a Sox and Cubs' fan)

That is the truth, the God honest truth.

I'm sorry to generalize but that has been my experience.

For those White Sox fans that are not like that, my apologies, but the MAJORITY of White Sox fans I have met talk more about the Cubs than the Sox.

And while I'm happy for the Sox players, I can't stand their manager, Guillen, need I remind you guys what he said during or after the strike? "We don't need the fans!" Wonder if he still feels that way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting what the team has accomplished this season, I'm just not going to root for them. Bottom line, it's not because of the White Sox team, it is because of their fans.

They play like a team - not individuals prima donnas. They never lost that team focus throughout the entire series. And I thought Paulie's acceptance of MVP was classy - he is just one of the players. Not one of them has a big head thinking they alone did it. This is how baseball is supposed to be played.

Loved every minute of it so far.
