Any other teams opting not to do this?

Didn't they refuse to were an American flag on their caps a couple of years ago?

Should I care?

Will this start an ugly flame-bait thread?

1. I think it's because the Yankees are donating to Salvation Army
tho I don't know why they don't wear Salvation Army logo on their helmuts.

What's the green thing I see on all the football helmuts?

2. "Pass the Hat"
I found that phrase somewhere else then searched the Red Cross web site and came up with this:

http://www.redcross.org/pressrelease/0,1077,0_489_4546,00.html

Sounds like ALL of MLB, not just some teams. Or was it only the home teams would wear the cross that particular day?

3. That green thing on football helmets is "Futbol Americano"
The NFL came up with a pointless non-event, a Sunday night game in Mexico City, and had to celebrate it with a sticker.

4. They did have a red cross on their batting helmets
for the past few weeks. Didn't notice yesterday if they took them off for some reason or not.

MLB has to approve any additions to uniforms. In 2001 the Yankees wanted to wear their caps with "FD to the left of the usual "NY and "PD" to the right and MLB refused to let them do it so they wore them during warmups only.

5. How much has MLB given to hurricane relief?
Kind of tacky for millionaires to wear a logo that encourages us to donate, but that's just me.

6. NY Yankees gave $1 million to the Salvation Army
I don't know what individual players might have done but the team donated $1 million.

7. As a Yankees fan, I was very happy to hear that...
I think the NFL front office gave a mil, which is pretty weak, considering.
