Yanks v Bosox probably doesn't matter any more - to Yanks
I'm a huge Yankee fan, but I can't help but think that even if the Yanks should somehow magically sweep the Bosox this weekend the Yankees will be lucky to finish above .500 with only 2 starting pitchers left (Mussina & Johnson) and "replacements" like Al Leiter (supposedly by Monday) and Redding, tonight's starter (0-5 9+ ERA) coming along.

OK, maybe Sturtz can fill in for a while though that would take away an effective reliever, but if Wang is out for the rest of the season I just can't see any way the Yanks can get it done this year, even if they were to make a deal for Clemens.

Their only hope, imo, is that Pavano can get back in a week or two, along with Brown and both suddenly revert to their top form, highly unlikely, especially with Brown who has been a miserable failure in New York. Jaret Wright isn't due back until at least mid-August so that would be no answer either.

As loyal a fan as I am, I cannot see how 1 + 1 = 5.

1. Don't worry
The Yanks won't sweep the Sox, though we have serious pitching woes too.

3. Whatever. It was great to pound Freeper Curt
Spanked, absolutely bitch-slapped by A-Rod. Take that, you Soxies.

Temporary relief from last year's collapse, but I'll take it.

4. I thought Leiter would be retiring
I got a feeling that Clemens wont be leaving Houston anytime soon, since the Stros recently signed his kid, and it would be interesting if they had them play together.

5. Pavano and Brown
will be back soon. Maybe they won't be in top form, but they'll be better than journeyman form. And with our offense, that should be enough. This offense is sick.

6. Yanks vs. Sox still matters to me.
And I won't be making any excuses if the Sox take the next three. Even with their pitching woes, the Yanks lineup should be able to hit the ball enough to win games, even if the score is 10-9 or high-scoring like that.

You have to play with who you have. No excuses.
