Tim Tebow helps Dolphins' sagging ticket sales
MIAMI (AP) - Tim Tebow is giving the winless Miami Dolphins a welcome boost in ticket sales.

Tebow will make his first start of the season Sunday when the Denver Broncos play at Miami, and Dolphins CEO Mike Dee said he's optimistic the game will be a sellout.

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold since Tebow was promoted to the starting job last week, Dee said Wednesday.

Because of Tebow's popularity, much of the crowd might be rooting for the visitors. A sizeable turnout of Florida Gators fans is likely because the Dolphins will pay tribute at halftime to Tebow and the rest of the 2008 Gators national championship team.

10. Heeheehee...
I'm not laughing at your pain. I'm just laughing in general. I fucking cringe every time I hear his name.
I must be the devil.

7. And some of those are probably Dolfans
who want their team to "Suck for Luck". :-)

6. I think the Phins will throw the kitchen sink at him.
This one game---even against the lowly Dolphins---will determine if this guy will make it.

8. I don't hate Tim Tebow...
...but the cult of Tebow creeps me the hell out.

Timmy's an overhyped token who fits Rush Limbaugh's description of Donovan McNabb better than McNabb ever did.

9. ESPN helps, too -- by "projecting" that he will score 19 points
Heaven help us from God's quarterback...

11. Video of Gator Day halftime
It was even worse than my estimation in terms of how often they allowed chants of "Go Gators" and similar. I won't be attending Dolphin games or buying merchandise in the near future, as long as anyone involved is still with the franchise.

Of anyone associated with that Gator team I respect Urban Meyer the most. He's a very astute commentator. But the highest decibel boos were saved for his brief speech to the crowd:

12. Al Goldens remarks about it.
I'm really liking this coach Awsi... They hammered Number 20 GTech last week.

CORAL GABLES — Like Miami Hurricanes fans, Coach Al Golden clearly was irked about the Miami Dolphins honoring the Florida Gators' 2008 national championship team at halftime of Sunday's home game against the Denver Broncos.

Asked about UM's pending celebration of its 2001 national championship team during halftime of Thursday night's game against Virginia, also in Sun Life Stadium, Golden gave this verbal jab: "I'm just glad we got it right and we're going to honor the right team on Thursday night. So I'm excited about that."

UM officials said the Dolphins asked this offseason about honoring their '01 team, but the school told the 'Fins it wanted to hold its own celebration during its own game.

13. Agreed trumad, I like Golden a lot
Solid guy with interesting comments and very impressive sideline demeanor. I appreciated that he suspended ball thumper Regis and described his actions as cowardly.

14. Dolphin players miffed by Gator Day
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/10/26/dolphins-players-not-fans-of-tebow-day/

“It was awful,” Anthony Fasano told Joe & Evan of WFAN, via SportsRadioInterviews.com, regarding the celebration of the Florida 2008 national title team. “Showing up at the stadium and seeing all the Gator stuff and the Tebow stuff. It was disheartening, but as players we kind of put ourselves in that position because the Dolphins are in the business of winning football games and making money. We haven’t been winning football games, but it’s still a smack in the face and it’s unfortunate we couldn’t rain on their parade and get the win.”

Safety and defensive captain Yeremiah Bell confirmed the sentiment in an appearances with Joe Rose of WQAM. “I think it was kind of messed up, you know, how he has a day in our stadium,” Bell said. “You know, I don’t think any of us thought that was right.”

Bell remains unimpressed with the guy who led the Broncos back from a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit. “I think he’s a running back playing quarterback with a high football IQ,” Bell said. “At the end of the day, when his career gets on down the road, he may even have to switch positions.”

15. It seriously questioned my faith in my team.
Edited on Thu Oct-27-11 07:02 AM by trumad
It's the first time since I've followed the team---1970 on....that I felt like giving up.

10 years of futility and then this crap---it's bad enough that I now TIVO the game and do other things on Sunday.

Yeah I know---through thick and thin---- but why watch crap on Sunday when you can go Red Fish fishing, or lay on the beach like a Beluga Whale.

At first I embraced Ross's decision to spice up the team with celeb owners and excitement... I truly thought Parcells would turn the franchise and I trusted his decisions.

Wrong about that. From personnel to the coaches he chose... he did a horrible job.

Ross needs to strip this franchise to its bare bones, get rid of Carl Peterson his good bud---what did Peterson do for KC? He was horrible there... bring in a dynamic new GM, a Coach with new ideas--- please not Cowher--- the dude will last two years before he pulls a Jimmy Johnson and realizes he likes easy gigs with the Sunday pre-game shows.

And finally--- Draft a franchise Quarterback. Yeah I know that's hard---but if they had that mindset a couple of years ago, Matt Ryan would be our QB today.

It's funny--- and I say this with as much modesty as I can muster----but I can run this team better than the current clowns who have put this once proud franchise into the shitter.

nuff said!
