1. Wow! I didn't even know that. I suppose if our resident Ginat fan had actually
been posting something about it, I might have known.

Congrats to the D-backs!

So are we going to see a Texas-Arizona Skankee-Philthie World Series??

2. Yeah, they clinched Friday in a victory over the Giants
:(

We'll get 'em next year.

Tigers-Brewers. I would love that.

3. Bite me.
:grr: :banghead: :argh: :nuke:

Two months ago I was looking forward to the first expansion team-free playoffs in years. Now there could be two of them. :puke:

4. Ahhh. But at least there will not be a traitorous team that left the CITY that
gave birth to them.

5. EPIC FAIL.
The formerly Gee Dubya Bush-owned Texas Rangers began life as the Washington Senators. :P

6. The 2011 Giants were the victims of Murphy's law..
both on and off the field. Starting with the beating of Bryan Stow, the Posey and Sanchez season ending injuries (7 of the 8 position players in the opening day lineup spent at least 34 games on the DL, 6 of them 40 games or more, then the disastrous Beltran trade, and ending with the unfortunate ouster of Bill Neukom..

Not that Arizona didn't deserve it. While the Giants were in the middle of that terrible August, the D-Backs won something like 13 of 15 and have continued playing well. I'll be rooting for them if they come up against the Phillies, which at the moment looks like a probable NLDS matchup..

7. Bruce Jenkins in the Chronicle; interesting read:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/09/25/SPLA1L8ULE.DTL

Off your topic, I know. But I thought the decision to stay with Huff, Torres, Tejada and Ross so long also helped lead to their to their downfall. As Jenkins suggests, Boche/Sabean thought otherwise. Excerpt:

Bochy managed this season on faith. He was certain that Huff, Cody Ross and Andres Torres would come around, and he thought they deserved some extra rope. You say no? You weren't in the room.

Make no mistake, Bochy's critics proved to be correct, on many counts. Bring general manager Brian Sabean into the discussion as well. The Giants stayed too long with Huff and Miguel Tejada. They should have unloaded Aaron Rowand in spring training, a move he would have welcomed. The over-the-hill Orlando Cabrera shouldn't have played shortstop ahead of Brandon Crawford at any time. They had too much faith in Buster Posey's backup catchers, and they would have seen a more productive Brandon Belt if they'd kept him on the big-league roster all season.
