Manning is expected to have surgery, miss “significant time”
With rampant rumors and reports regarding the status of quarterback Peyton Manning, a source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Manning could have neck surgery as soon today, and that he will miss “significant time” as he recovers.

It’s currently expected that, after the surgery, Manning will recover and play again, possibly this year.

Manning has had two neck surgeries in the past two years. The most recent procedure occurred on May 23. He returned to practice last week, but a setback has forced him back to sidelines.

1. Big chance for the Texans
Sorry it comes at the expense of injury but... stuff happens.

2. I'm betting he is done. A third surgery for the same thing doesn't bode well.

3. I agree
Listening to 790 in ATL the other day and one of the talk show guys (I think it was David Archer, a former QB) who was saying the same thing, but didnt want to start the drumbeat that "he's done." That is: there is a strong "snap" in the body when you throw a football, and if you're neck is injured, you can't make the "snap" and that you're "done" at that point.

Peyton has played his last football game.

Time to hang it up and go back and save Rocky Top!

4. I've never liked him, but I don't wish this on him...tought to have your career
ended this way. If he's done, Indy's done, at least for a while, as they've built their team around him.

Expected to be out 2-3 months, per ESPN.

6. It all ends someday...
I remember well Marino's last days...

It will be the great Tom Brady someday.
