National magazines predict Redskins will stink
I don’t often get accused of being a Redskins homer, so forgive me this bit of homerism.

I went to a friendly neighborhood bookseller on Sunday, and looked at the friendly national sports magazine section, and discovered that the national sports magazine people uniformly believe the Redskins will stink. A lot.

In fact, at least three of them believe the Redskins will be historically bad this season.

Now, the Redskins were 6-10 last year, in the first year of the Mike Shanahan offense and the Jim Haslett defense. And I’d challenge these national experts to tell me at which positions the team will be worse in 2011.

1. Until Dan "Fuckstick" Snyder sells the team...
..how can you predict anything else? A complete and utter tragedy, what has happened to this once great franchise. Ya' think Snyder would man up and admit failure.

3. Well, they could go 1-5 or 0-6 in the division, which would make improving on last year a challenge
But worse than the Panthers? Anyone in the NFC West? That's a bit harsh.

5. One would think the 49'ers would be ranked below the Redskins.

9. How did the 49'ers get all the way up to 11. I would have them lower than the Redskins.

10. I chalk it up to the the "Harbaugh Hype"
but it helps that they play in a weaker division so they may get a few wins.

11. Clearly, this means the Packers will win the Super Bowl again.
All right. then. Let's all save some time, and some linebacker brains, call the Packers the Super Bowl Champions again, and move on to some good movies.

13. This is the problem with 4 divisions.
Playoff scenario:

Bye: GB, PHI

NO vs. NYG
*STL* vs. ATL

STL has no business being in the playoffs. Three divisions would be better.

15. I am no fan but the Redskins may suprise some people this year
I think they are pretty tight as a team. Granted they don't have much talent.

If it does go downhile Shanahan is going to be BRUTAL to be around and the team really could melt down.

17. And Sexy Rexy Says "How Ya Like Me Now?!?"
When he was the biploar QB here in Chicago, he was immature. I always hoped he would grow up a bit and get more focus and concentration. He looked solid yesterday. Didn't see the whole game, but watched them some on RedZone.

Who runs this so-called national magazine anyway?

19. Mark Schlereth, Apparently
Since Grossman used to be in Chicago, and Cutler is there now, he hates both of them. Schlereth has a disturbing antipathetic obsession with Chicago. So, he probably runs that magazine and instills the Chicago hate.

No, i'm not feeling put upon. I think it's hilarious. That idiot is still questioning Cutler's toughness and leadership when every guy on the team that's been interviewed, including defensive guys, says they don't question either. Apparently his teammates' opinion isn't relevant.

20. Yeah---I'm still shaking my head about that one....
Arm Chair warriors with Cheetos stained fingers questioning an NFL QB's toughness. Especially one who brings you a game away from the big show.

21. Especially One Who Got Sacked Over 100 Times
Behind that line, he got hit nearly every 5 pass attempts for 2 years, and missed 2 and a half games. Two of them because of the new concussion rule. (He nearly got killed in that NYG game.)

The best pure thrower the Bears have had in my lifetime, and i'm 55. He can do nothing but make them better than a "game manager".
