2. Amazing that 3 Miami teams make the grade.
4, if you count that jack-off Jimmy Johnson's Dallas Cowboys.

3. 2001 D-Bags.
Just when America had suspended its Yankee-hatred after Nineleven(TM), they had to go and ruin it. :grr:

4. Bad list, more personal treatment by the author than reflecting opinion at the time
Very strange list, but many obvious flubs. Guy must be a Notre Dame fan. The 1986 Canes weren't even close to the most hated Canes team. It's ridiculous they are #1. That team was so flashy and dominant during the regular season that it had a massive following. Keep in mind Miami had only one championship at that point so there wasn't growing weariness of a dynasty. I was in Las Vegas and remember the Canes jerseys everywhere in the sportsbooks as Miami racked up one lopsided win after another. I attended several USC games that season and saw Miami jerseys on campus and at the games.

The fatigues were a late story, only days before the Fiesta Bowl.

In 1987 Miami in the title game defeated a program considered more rogue than itself, Oklahoma. I remember opinion polls heavily tilted in Miami's favor, despite Oklahoma's 3 point favoritism. That in itself should reveal how ridiculous it is to claim Miami 1986 as the most hated team ever. National sentiment wouldn't switch within 12 months. It's like asserting the Heat as the likely national darlings this time next season.

By 1988 the nation began turning against Miami, after two titles and the new Catholics vs. Convicts tag. But it really peaked in the early '90s, after Miami won again in '89 and '91, and had basically dominated college football for 9 seasons. When the 1992 Miami team was exposed by Alabama in the Sugar Bowl as a 6.5 point favorite, public reaction was similar to this year's Heat defeat.

5. Us Kentucky fans should get some respect
What else must we do to make the list? From some of the crap I have heard here I thought we were more well hated. Will work on that come roundball time. How long 'till college football???

7. You deserve one of those 'Lifetime Achievement Awards' like an Oscar to someone that's never won
No individual Kentucky team was that loathable, but collectively you should be in the Hall of Fame.

:toast:

And yes, I'm aware that Dean Smith should get a special achievement award for Four Corners, especially when he used it when he had Michael Freaking Jordan in the game. I would have been really pissed if I had shelled out thousands of dollars to attend that ACC Final against UVA where he stood around most of the game.

9. The Philly Flyers at #4 ?!?! A raw deal. They made hockey what it is today.
Gawd, I loved 'em. Of course, I lived there at the time.

10. Not one Shaq/Kobe Lakers team on the list?
That alone makes the list suspect.

12. Don't you know
It's all about the hatred of the Heat now. Every list has to have the Heat in it one way or the other.

17. Speaking of that hated 1986 Hurricane football team
Here's a video of post game interviews from many star players immediately following the Fiesta Bowl loss to Penn State. As a fan of all the Miami teams it's always hilarious to listen to and read the stereotyped summations of our players from across the country, simpleton spews that have no relationship to reality, when you follow the team and players locally. I believe it was JFK who said he never recognized his policies as expressed by Richard Nixon.
