The Baseball Season Officially Ends This Weekend...
America's Most Beloved, Righteous, All-Knowing Team travels to Tampa tonight for a three-game series with the hated Satan Rays. America's Most Beloved, Righteous, All-Knowing Team must sweep the series, not win, sweep the series for them to still have hope. They will not. The Heavens will weep. Baseball, for all practical purposes, will be over. Very sad indeed.

1. Brad Hawpe, who was released by the Rockies, is going to Tampa Bay.
But he probably won't start this weekend. The Rays really wanted Manny, but the White Sox got his waiver.

2. Manny probably would have done ok for TB for the rest of this season..
he'll have wanted to prove the Dodgers wrong just like he wanted to prove the Red Sox wrong, but when all is said and done, he reverts to his old, shitty, no one loves me ways and he stops trying.

7. I would have been curious to see if the Red Sox put in a claim for Manny
just to block the Rays. Like Damon, Manny would have rejected a return to Boston, but it would have effectively blocked the Rays from getting him.

8. They must have been far down on the list for him, because if there was a
possibility, there would have been some chatter about it.

10. I think once it was rumored about the White Sox putting in a claim,
which happened almost as soon as the rumor about him going on waivers came out, it was a moot point. I didn't even hear that LA was thinking about waivers until after I heard that the WS were looking to get him. If the White Sox rumor hadn't come out right away, it would have been all over WEEI. Heads would have been exploding in New England.

3. Completely agree on "Satan Rays"
I'll be pulling for the Red Sox, Joeybee, althugh not for the same reason as you do. But there will be a time and a place for that argument when The Only Baseball Rivalry Americans Care About gets under way in October. Good wishes to your Sox; may they do what Bogart did and beat the devil(s).

4. Lets not get hasty here
They just need to get really hot for their last 34 games. Like scalding hot. Molten lava hot.

6. Not gonna help...Satan and the Satan Rays both show no signs of letting up...
...their only hope is these head-to-head battles.

17. The Rock Show have won 4 straight
They currently have a 1-0 lead over LA at the moment. Still a ways away from the WC spot but they're climbing. Hopefully they can keep it up. :bounce:
