Fan in LeBron's Heat jersey draws ire
CLEVELAND -- A fan wearing a Miami Heat jersey of LeBron James drew the ire of the crowd at a Cleveland Indians game and was escorted out of the ballpark.

Fans in the left-field bleachers chanted obscenities and pointed at the man Wednesday night during the sixth inning of the game between the Indians and New York Yankees.

Hundreds of fans joined in before security led the man out of Progressive Field.

I'm sorry, but what ever you think of LeBron's choices this is assinine behavior. He clearly KNEW it was going to be provocative and even taunted the crowd while being escorted out. Stay classy Miami fans!

2. He was clearly inspired by James classless wearing
of a Yankees cap to a Cleveland Indians game.

9. I assume he was originally an Indians fan.
He stuck with them through the '95 World Series loss to the Braves, but when Mesa blew Game 7 against the Marlins 2 years later Lebron decided it was time to try a new team. He weighed his options throughout the '98 season, but by the time the playoffs rolled around he knew the Yankees (and their 114 wins that year) were the only team for him.

5. He was taunting the crowd...thats not right.
Do you think someone wearing a I LOVE THE RAVENS would have been treated well at an Indians game right after the team moved to Baltimore? Probably not. I actually think he's lucky no drunk fan tried to assault him. Security did the right thing.

7. I suppose so
But gee... grow up Cleveland. Unpleasantness and heartbreak is central to Cleveland sports. Expect assholes to capitalize on it.

10. If fairness, he didn't start taunting until the crowd started with him
Not to defend him, but cameras showed him arriving and getting heckled. He just added fuel to the fire.

6. Oklahoma fans did that in Seattle
Washington was playing Oklahoma in football and some serious jerks walked around Seattle wearing Oklahoma Thunder jerseys.

Really takes the "sports" out of sportsmanship, and I don't understand it. Why would someone be such a jerk?

8. I saw someone in one of those out here the other day
He was driving a huge SUV, the nose of which poked about halfway through the crosswalk I was using.

What a douche.

11. Matthew Bellamy, Thrown Out of Cleveland Ballpark in Heat Jersey, Tells His Side of the Story
<snip>

"Matthew Bellamy provided some, apparently, much needed catharsis for angry Cleveland sports fans Wednesday. He showed up at a Cleveland Indians game in LeBron James Miami Heat jersey and got booed out of the stadium. Now he's telling his side of the story, and apparently fans weren't the only ones angry at him. Even the police officer who escorted him out of the stadium called him an "asshole."

Bellamy, who caused the sensation in a white Heat jersey, sat down with with a local Cleveland news station to give his side of his story, in a red Heat jersey, naturally.

"I had three glasses of beer thrown at me, which ruined one of my jerseys, peanuts were flying, pieces, parts of food were flying. We weren't able to get to our seats cause they wouldn't let us sit down," Bellamy said. "I understand it's a little fresh still. But he was born and raised in Ohio. You can't turn your back on him that quick. At least I can't."

He also adds that even the uniformed police officer got in on the rage, "The cop called me a few names that I really don't appreciate... He just called me an a-hole a few times so I really don't appreciate that."

Previous reports from the blog Cleveland Frowns says Bellamy was born in Lakeland, Florida but moved to Sandysky, Ohio when he was 11. He was also wearing an Ohio Buckeyes hat with his LeBron Jersey (hold your hate, 'Canes fans).

Bellamy also said he'd move to Florida too if he could find a way."

12. Bellamy was pouring salt on the wound
he showed up at the Indians game looking for trouble. He knew damn well what kind of reaction he would receive wearing that jersey.

He deserved everything he got and more..

13. Miami fans stay classy? It's the Cleveland fans that need to grow up.
Oh noes, we're being taunted, let's run the guy out of the stadium!

If fans taunting one another really bothers you I suggest you never see a Montreal/Boston game under any circumstances. :)

14. There's a difference between taunting and attempting to start a fucking riot
And you know it. And anyone with the IQ of a nit who has ever been to a baseball or football game in Cleveland or anywhere else knows that the ONLY purpose to wear that shirt is to INFLAME. Might as well wear a shirt praising the KKK to a NCAA meeting...Sorry..he was attempting to "yell fire in a crowded theater" and security did the right thing by removing him.

15. Must be asshole season in Cleveland
Or beer was selling cheap. I thought this was a free country. He should be able to wear whatever the fuck he wants. Baseball is supposed to be a family game. Great example to show your kids, Cleveland assclowns. The ones throwing beer and food and acting like children should have been the ones escorted out and put in a holding cell.
