The Giants are 18-7 for the month of July and are now have the third best record in the National League.

The catcher, Buster Posey, has hit safely in 21 straight games and can tie the San Francisco rookie record today currently held by Willie McCovey. In the last 10 games Posey is batting .390.

The starting pitchers have done an outstanding job burning innings and keeping the scores close.

Closer Brian Wilson leads the league in saves.

Yes, there are problems on the team: no left-handed relief in an already shaky bullpen, a still struggling Pablo Sandoval, and a propensity to hit into double plays. But the defense is sound, Bruce Bochy manages smart, and they are finding ways to win ball games.

4. Another interesting stat..

during Posey's 21 game hitting streak, the Giants have won 17 of those..

The Giants are now 2nd in the NL in BA and 6th in runs scored.

They don't need another hitter, they need that bullpen help. A left hander is almost a necessity, but help from either side should be the Giants top priority. Right now, when Bochy goes down there, you never know what you're going to get..

5. They're also starting to win on the road more consistently than earlier this year.

I truly feel that's a great indicator of how good a team really is, and how much damage they're capable of. The Giants are what, 2 or 3 games over .500 on the road this year now? That's pretty good (especially as I believe they were under .500 on the road until this past month...I could be wrong). if they maintain this they'll be in the mix until the end.

It will be an interesting race between them and the Padres as it looks like my Dodgers are running out of time and Manny* is on extended siesta.:silly: The Dodgers have speedy good hitter Podsednik now and are trying to land Ted Lilly (maybe) but my Spidey sense is warning me that it might not be enough this time.
