South Beach club at center of NCAA probe

The NCAA is investigating whether several football players were treated by agents during a soiree at the South Beach club LIV in May.

"Football players at the University of Miami have long known about the trappings and pitfalls of South Beach.

It seems some of the Hurricanes' rivals are just now becoming educated about one of the beach's golden rules: Be mindful of who's buying your drinks.

The NCAA is investigating reports that football players from several universities visited Miami over Memorial Day weekend and partied on a tab paid for by sports agents or financial advisors. Such gifts and largess would violate NCAA rules.

If the players implicated in the probe are found in violation, they could face suspensions.

The NCAA's investigation began last week with the University of North Carolina but has widened to include South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia."
