hey--Marlins attendance sucks for sure---

BUT----You'd think that a team with good attendance like the Rockies (10th) could at least beat a team like the Marlins (29th) in a 4 game series.

Well-- it appears that this is not the case. The team with horrible attendance beat the team with good attendance 3 out of 4 in the last series.

So it begs the question--- Is attendance more important than winning? Apparently to some douchebags in this forum....it is.

Oh well--- someday---and not in the near future---they may win a World Series.

NOT!

4. Attendance IS a separate issue from winning.
But it is an important one.

Look, the Marlins and the Rockies both started in 1993. After 17 1/2 seasons they have virtually identical records. But our fans care for their team. Yours do not. Miami doesn't deserve to have a ML baseball team. Especially one that wins two world series and then sells off the good players. The Fish stink!

5. How do you know we don't care??
Attendance isn't everything. As I have mentioned before, the Marlins are in the top 10 ratings wise for Fox Sports Florida games. So, we support the team, but we don't got to the stadium. When the new stadium is built, it will be a better situation. Look at tonight - the game may be called due to rain. Who wants to drive down to the stadium and then have it called on account of rain?? The new stadium will never have that problem.

6. I'm going to put this in perspective here.

You said you had 30,000 people at the Strasburg game on a FRIDAY night...Do you know that the Reds sold out their stadium for a WEDNESDAY night game for the first time in years to see Strasburg pitch- I think it was close to 40,000? That game in Miami was the lowest attendence game for Strasburg since his debut. I also know that the Nats who don't have ANY championships have a higher average attendence than Florida. You guys have some REAL talent..a very talented young pitcher I think. And you have won WS. I'm not trying to rag on you RockaFowler, but it does seem that the Marlins have a real problem with their fan base- and in this day an age of economic hardship, thats going to have an effect on how much money Florida can put into payroll...So yeah, attendence can have an effect on competitiveness...

7. OK the Marlins make zip on attendance
They make money on Fox Sports Florida. The ad revenue all goes to the team. They are renters at the stadium, so the money is not an issue as you might think.

Can I cry that poor Strasburg is not a draw here in South Florida?? I could care less about the attendance. Which team is making money?? I have a feeling the Marlins are making a lot more than most teams. Not just from attendance. There is more to life than attendance.

Attendance hasn't helped the following teams win championships:

Giants
Rangers
Astros
Cubs
Padres
Brewers
Mariners

8. If attendence doesn't matter and the Marlins have few money issues...
Then WHY after each WS have they had a "fire sale" on their rosters? As a fan you couldn've enjoyed seeing that. I'll admit that attendence doesn't necessarily mean you are going to win it all but it helps...Look at the Yankees and the BoSox in particular. They always sell out and they both ALWAYS contend. There is SOME correlation between attendence and the ability to field a good team.

10. Different owner
Wayne Huizenga almost ruined baseball down here. Jeffrey Loria cares about the team and really hasn't had a fire sale since they won in 2003. He got the state and the county to get a stadium built. Something Garbage Guy could never do. I'm glad Huizenga is out of sports entirely down here. And I wish the stadium was still called Joe Robbie. Joe Robbie was a great owner who knew what he was doing. Huizenga is just a garbage guy who thought he could buy championships
