1. I'm pretty sure Olberman is a big Yankee fan.

He calls all their Old Timers games from the field.

4. Yeah okay..
I'm sure his views on Steinbrenner aren't colored by his lifelong affection for the Yankees.:eyes:

5. This is going to sting a little for the fans, but..
George Steinbrenner was one of the biggest assholes in sports history. This fucking attempt at sainthood is pure fucking bullshit.

8. Put the spray paint can down, my friend.
Let him at least be buried, before you go on your tirades. No one is suggesting that Steinbrenner be sainted, except for Yavin4.

9. This whole thing smells of the death of St. Ronnie.
I'm happy for one thing. Bob Sheppard is in Heaven. He's not there to welcome ol' George to the Gates of Hades.

16. Way To Put Words in My Mouth
I never said that Steinbrenner should be sainted. I have said that he was a very savvy businessman, and he did the one thing that no prior Yankee team was ever able to do:

Unite the city of NY behind the Yankees, and made the Yankees NY's number one team.

22. So, Because I Root for the Yankees....
You automatically assume that I think that Steinbrenner was a Saint? Ponderous, man, Ponderous.

Steinbrenner was an overly passionate owner, and when you have an overly passionate owner, they tend to make an ass out of themselves from time to time. Yankees fans lived through the good and the bad Steinbrenner, but in the end, we had an owner that was as passionate about winning as the fans were. An owner who didn't pocket the revenue the team made, rather he put it back into the talent, where it belongs.

A Saint? No. A fascinating and good owner? Hell, yes.

I'd rather have a 10,000 Steinbrenners than one Peter Angelos.

21. Keith did a good job with that.
I'm no fan of Steinbrenner's, but he was clearly a man of some depth, and Keith did well with the tribute.
