1. This is not "latest breaking news".
All of the deadskin fans here and everyone else know that he is a goner.

5. He's an asshole
I wish the Skins could just VOID his contract. Yeah, we should totally redesign our defense to accomodate one out of shape always injured defensive lineman. Maybe we should trade this cancer to the Cowboys. Ugh

6. Unless we can get something for what his value should be, make him ride the bench.
And also sue his ass.

7. UPDATE: Redskins players call out Haynesworth
Associated Press / June 16th, 2010

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins players are calling Albert Haynesworth selfish for skipping the team's mandatory minicamp and demanding a trade.

Haynesworth wasn't present Wednesday morning with the team took the field for practice. The two-time All Pro defensive tackle is staying away because he doesn't want to play in the Redskins' new defensive scheme.

Coach Mike Shanahan revealed that the Redskins gave Haynesworth the chance to find another team until April 1, when the player was due a $21 million bonus. Shanahan said that once Haynesworth took the check, the team expected him to play.

Haynesworth's absence isn't popular among teammates. Both London Fletcher and Casey Rabach called Haynesworth "selfish." Said Rabach: "It doesn't sit well with the players."

11. I like Kornheiser, but..
...it's worth remembering that the station he works for now is owned by Snyder. He isn't going to follow the company line to the letter, but I think it's easy to argue that he might feel a little more loyalty to his boss than to somebody who had a terrible season the year before.

The fact is that Haynesworth has always said that he didn't want to play the nose in a 3-4, and that was one of the big non-paycheck reasons he signed with Washington. One season later, in comes Shanahan who suddenly wants to use a defense that he has never used before, which stuffs the fat man into, yes, the nose in a 3-4. I can't blame him for requesting a trade, especially in that sport where a contract is so worthless.

12. Hayensworth wants the "glamour" position of pass rusher
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 01:11 PM by Auggie
I can see his point, as you address, and maybe that is the best position for him to play. But I also understand it from the point of Redskins who expect him to be a team player, especially considering the big buck they are shelling out.

13. There's also the whole "kicking a guy in his uncovered head" thing.
This is total speculation on my part, but I think he doesn't want to play nose because he would be more susceptible to the kind of tactics that he says made him go berserk on that one notable occasion.

As far as the team player angle, I'm more receptive to that argument in a sport that has guaranteed contracts. If he wasn't good enough to, potentially, justify his contract, the team would throw him out on his fat ass just as soon as they find a big enough forklift. The NFL being what it is, I can't blame Haynesworth for looking out for himself.

14. He got paid 21 MILLION on April 1st
With the understanding that he would rejoin the team. And since the defense has not changed since then that makes him a LYING moneygrubbing self centered lazy bastard don't you think?

9. Good.
He's such a jackass. I wonder if there's any way this asshole can be suspended without pay for his antics.
