8. Texass realized that they would lose their television cash cow in the PAC 10

They have been hoarding the Big 12 television revenue through a screwy contract for years. I have heard rumblings that A&M in particular is sick of it and would jump at the chance to move to the SEC and leave UT behind.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. It opens up the Houston, DFW, and San Antonio media markets to the savvy SEC, and the Aggies would have two ready-made historic rivals in LSU and Arkansas.

4. This sucks

for the Pac-10 if nothing else happens. If you're going to expand make sure you get two teams so your conference winner can get an artificial boost from a championship game like other conferences. Now they're stuck with 10 teams and Colorado. Before this they played everyone meaning everyone played 9 conference games. Now there's an odd man out. I do hope the Pac-10 adds one more quality team.

Even though it would be out of the way. In the Pac-10 we have natural rivals right down to the bottom.

Washington-Washington State
Oregon-Oregon State
Cal-Stanford
USC-UCLA
Arizona State-Arizona

With Nebraska it would be Colorado-Nebraska which is both of those teams main rivalry. Plus NE brings a lot to the table as they are one of the most popular teams in the nation.

I remember Tempe went nuts when ASU shut them out 19-0 in 1996.(They were defending champs at the time)

OK, Salt Lake isn't a great media market, but they have the strongest available athletic programs in the west, with the possible exception of BYU.
