2. It was a wonderful time.
Before greed became the primary factor driving college sports.

3. As my father-in-law would quip, "All change is for the worse."
If these mergers by any way accelerate the NCCAA to adopt a sensible national championship playoff system, I think we would all be in favor.

6. You and me both. The SWC had a lot of history and tradition.
The powers that be made one too many deals with the $$$ devil and this is what we end up with.

7. All Texas had to do was what they demanded of Nebraska
Texas wanted a "verbal commitment" to the Big XII from Nebraska. However, as Pearlman pointed out, presidents come and go and this would mean nothing. Nebraska was willing to step up to the plate and make a real commitment by signing all their media rights over to the Big XII. The only catch is they wanted all the other schools to make the same commitment. Sadly, Texas was the team who refused to make the commitment. Basically, they wanted Nebraska to stick around for a few more years, giving Texas a better bargaining chip to go to greener pastures, leaving Nebraska high and dry with nowhere to go. I assure you, Nebraska was not looking for this 6 months. They were forced into the situation by others and made the best choice possible.

9. I do think that to some extent the people driving these changes are ignroing their alumni
I am being as much of a squeaky wheel as possible, I encourage everyone to do that same. Call and write the conferences. Call your school. COMPLAIN.
