Big 12 meeting opens with a hope and a prayer...
A rendition of 'We are the World' kicked things off followed by the Reverend Beebe on his hands and knees begging the flock "not to go down that hellish road of expansion."http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5240880 Sorry, El. You fuckers are in big trouble.

1. So now you think the Big Ten is going to destroy the Big 12??
:wtf:

2. I've told you all along that Nebraska and Mizzou are coming to the Big Ten, mad.
Why don't you listen?

4. Condem. I still think you are full of shit with this whole thing.
But it does make for amusing conversation.

BTW, Texas just wants the old SWAC back.

6. You're problem (and most of the DU sports forum, mad) is you are thinking of the actual games.
It has NOTHING to do with that. It's all about $$$$. And it runs much deeper than TV revenue. It's the contracts with the various cable companies. Trust me on this.

9. BWAHA! The whole point of it IS the ACTUAL GAMES!
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 05:52 PM by madinmaryland
What a dumb thing to say.

And TV revenue includes what they get from the cable companies. That is all interlocked.

What do the alumni who give HUGH endowments think? Methinks they may not be interested in seeing Rutgers join the Big Ten or even Texas join the Big Ten. They do have significant pull over universities.

10. LOL, mad. From the guy who says expansion will be the Pitt Panthers.
It has nothing to with future rivalries. Nothing to to with Rutgers-Minnesota in five years. Think about it. Why has the Big Ten Channel been such a success? Because of it's coverage of live Big Ten football games? Guess again. Besides the MSU-Iowa game of last year (which they were LUCKY to pick up at the beginning of the year) name one marquee game that was televised. Sorry, Stuart Scott. It's the whole package. If you think the alumni are going to have a large say in this matter you are sadly mistaken. Besides, most are energized for expansion. This is Delaney's deal. Sure, he'll accept input. But this ends with Big Jim. Just run along and wait for the C game Thursday night, Stuart. Leave the thinking to those who get the financial impact of it all. Pitt. Why don't we just take Iowa State? About the same $$ at stake.

11. You been smoking again tonight??
This is what you just said.

* It has nothing to do with future rivalries.
* It has nothing to do with the current coverage of Big Ten Football games.
* It has nothing to do with the Alumni.
* It has nothing to do with the money at stake for the teams that come into the Big Ten.

You have spent the last four months pimping the rivalry issue and the money issue, yet now you are talking them down. Do you really have any clue what you are talking about?

12. The money at stake. That is exactly what I've been saying all along.

Everything else is secondary. That's why Pitt ain't coming. More news: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5244491 The 'morrow could be somewhat interesting.

3. Aren't there, like, eleven state schools in the Big XII?
What's with the prayer? Couldn't Baylor just go off in a corner and pray by itself??

5. Kama. I think you're thinking of TCU.
But things get a bit complicated from here. Colorado bails for the PAC-10. The Huskers and Mizzou- Big Ten bound. Now, it becomes interesting.
Texas, A&M, Okie and State to the SEC??

16. Hey! I read that Boise State may come to the Mountain West.
Look out. The MWC is about to become the dominant conference with Boise State, TCU, Utah and BYU.

That's a very good conference. Boise could very well go unbeaten this year.
