49ers sign Oregon's LeGarrette Blount

Teams are burning up the phone lines trying to land what they call priority free agents -- talented players who went undrafted over the last three days. The 49ers already have landed a whopper, Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount, who was famously suspended for three months this past season after striking a Boise State player following a Ducks' loss the opening week.

Blount's troubles overshadowed his production. A big, physical back at 241 pounds, he ran for more than 1,000 yards the previous season and scored 17 touchdowns that season.

Well, I guess we don't have to worry about Blount having a nasty attitude. As long as he keeps it between the lines where it belongs..The 49ers have also landed the following players:

If not for the incident that was actually instigated by the Boise St player, Blount would have gone early in the draft. He's done his penance, he's big and strong...and he wants to play for Mike Singletary. Nothing wrong with taking a chance on this guy....

particularly now that he's shown himself to be afraid of a little healthy competition by running to the Titans...but Blount was taunted by the Boise St. player, otherwise the incident would have never happened.

What Blount did was unquestionably wrong.

However, if you remember correctly, many were calling for BOTH players to be sanctioned...Something Boise didn't agree with, but then again.. what can you expect from a program that plays a HS level schedule on a cartoon field, and then claims they are worthy of NC consideration?
