The National Hockey League SUCKS!
I referenced this last night, but now I've even more evidence!

Last night, San Jose (#1 seed in Western Conference) loses at home to #8 Colorado.

Tonight, Washington (#1 in the league overall) loses to the pathetic Canadiens in overtime!

The government needs to step in and impose standards whereby ONLY THE ELITE TEAMS GET TO PLAY IN THE POSTSEASON!!!

When it comes to my favorite sport, I will GLADLY accept government intervention!

3. It's way too long. NBA and MLB the same.
Football has it right, so naturally they're thinking of tampering with it and adding a couple games to their season.

7. I said the same thing in the 1980s
When the NY Islanders would stink it up all year and then win the cup 4 years in a row.

14. The Islanders hardly stunk it up those years.
Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 09:43 PM by Forkboy
In '79-'80 they had 91 points, finishing in 2nd place in their division before going on to win the Cup.

In '80-'81 they had 48 wins and 110 points and won their division by 13 points.

In '81-'82 they had 54 wins and 118 points, both still team records, and won their division by 26 points.

In '82-'83 they had 96 points, good enough for 2nd place.

Those records are hardly a case of a team stinking it up all year. If it is, then a boatload of teams wish they sucked that bad. :)

8. Avalanche has always been an elite team
Granted, we've lost a lot of superstars, but Avs still has Hejduk, Stasny, Duchene, and Stewart - and not to mention Foote.

San Jose has always been overrated - and has a playoff problem.

16. There's no reward for hard work!
Fuck sixteen out of thirty teams making the playoffs! Ten! You're got your three division winners in each conference: They get a bye to rest up. Meanwhile, two wild-card teams in each conference play a five-game series, with the winner going up against the top finisher in each conference. And get rid of this bullshit about a night off when you're playing in the same arena! Two consecutive nights, then a travel day! Just like they do in the NBA!

18. it needs to be like baseball, where only 3 or 4 teams can realistically win.
Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 09:50 PM by provis99
The Yankees being one of them. come to think of it, why not eliminate teams like the Royals and Bucks completely, since they don't have a chance of becoming MLB champions anyways.

Frankly, I like that the NHL is a competitive league, unlike MLB, which seems to be what you like.
