Tom Glavin - Furute Hall-of-Famer...
MY EYE!

...maybe if he has the decency to negotiate an earlier retirement and leave the Mets with some cash to get another arm, but otherwise he will go out as a loser.

1. No way
All he cares about is the money.

He started his career with the Braves and talked so lovingly how he wanted to end it with them but they just wouldn't pony up the cash to keep him.

Fuck you Tom Glavine. Stay the hell in New York.

3. He's a hall of Famer
Glavine will make it. Money rules in sports. It has for many years.

4. I hope NY writers give him the cold shoulder for a few ballots.
He should pack it in. He's embarrassing himself.

5. He won;t be a first ballot....
....but he'll could probably get in.

2 Cys, 250+ wins in the modern era, 3.44 ERA in the inflated offense era.

7. He'll probably get in, but

he's a borderline case.

The guy he reminds me of the most is Jerry Koosman.

On edit, after looking him up, he's 262-171, that's probably good enough for the HOF.

www.baseball-reference.com is a great resource for baseball stats. One thing they do is compare every player to the top ten players in baseball history who have the closest stats to him.

Here's their list for Glavine. It's pretty impressive. The number in parenthesis is some formula number of how closely the player's stats coincide with another player's stats. I think 1,000 would be a perfect correlation.

Jack Morris (905)
Jim Palmer (896) *
Dennis Martinez (880)
Luis Tiant (873)
Bob Gibson (872) *
Bob Feller (869) *
Vida Blue (861)
Jerry Reuss (855)
Burleigh Grimes (853) *
Jerry Koosman (852)

Hard to argue with those names, and good to see Koosman on the list. Would have never guessed Gibson or Palmer though

8. Gibson-Palmer
These two were dominant pitchers. Gibson has the all time lowest ERA for a single season and was considered the pitcher to have for a seventh game. A great competitor. Palmer had a great rising fastball and was an outstanding pitcher.
