Better overall player than Ruth, imo, just had his career cut too short. The other two guys I love are Sandy Koufax and Joe Dimaggio. I know...two Yankees!! Go figure. Probably helped that they were quiet and gentlemanly. I don't like flashy guys or showoffs.

I don't care what team someone is on, if they are classy I'm probably going to admire them. Ruth had a higher obp, slugging, more home runs. And would have been a hall of famer as a pitcher as well. He held the record for shutout innings as a pitcher in the World Series for 50 years.

I saw so much of Roberto Clemente as a kid that he will forever be my favorite player of all time,

but Mays had a bit more power than Clemente so I decided to vote for Mays.
