Sissy or Super-Sissy? Gators Won't Schedule Canes
Everyone who's a fan of good football should be disappointed.

<snip>

"Blame the BCS, though the rivalry hasn't been annual since the Gators backed out in 1987 citing the desire to play a more national schedule (and replacing Miami with powerhouse Montana State). Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt has announced that Florida will honor the scheduled meeting between the Gators and Canes in 2013, but beyond that Gainesville is uninterested in seeing their biggest in-state rivals again.

We'd have to consult a baby's bottom and probably a tiny duckling, but that's about the softest thing in the history of ever.

For fans of good football -- and both programs -- this should be unacceptable. Few remember the wooden canoe passed back and forth to the winner each season between the 1950s and 1987, but everyone remembers the infamous 1971 Gator Flop, when Florida defenders lay down on the field so that the Hurricanes could score and Florida's quarterback John Reaves had enough time to break an NCAA passing record.

And then there were the peaches hurled onto the field in 1980, prompting an angry Howard Schnellenberger to instruct his Canes to add a field goal to injury, and the Bourbon Street brawl before the 2001 Sugar Bowl, and Devin Hester returning an opening kick af Florida Field, and Tim Tebow dismantling Miami in the second half in 2008.

"Miami-Florida is good for college football," Hocutt said. It's what makes the rivalry so intense, so heated, so sold out."

2. I (almost) feel sorry for Gator fans.
How exciting it must have been for them this year to have watched home non-conference games like UF vs Troy (56-6), UF vs Charleston So. (62-3), and UF vs FIU (62-3).

:boring:

3. Orange, blue and mostly yellow
Gator fans seemingly have no idea how little their team is respected. The titles must seem nice internally but the run is destined to end. It always ends sooner than you think. And at that point Florida will be unmercifully ridiculed. One loss will be the equivalent of 6 from a PR standpoint. You can't earn a reputation as cowardly and then reinforce it time after time, not if you seek respect. No one will consider this a legendary era. Neither the 2006 or 2008 team were unbeaten and this team hasn't been dominant. Tebow has staying power from a reputation standpoint, the team as a whole does not.

21. Schools like Florida that play the tougest schedule in the country....
do not take advice from schools like Miami U., who have losing records in The ACC, can't even win a division Championshi

Name me any other team other than Miami U., who's been declared national champ while playing a champ game in their home stadium.

So again... schools like Florida don't take scheduling advice from loser ACC schools nor take financial advice from bankrupt programs like Miami U.

Doing so would be beyond...............stupid.

19. Repeat.... Florida is the only school to ever win a National Championship...
while playing the #1 ranked most difficult schedule in the country as ranked by The NCAA. Happened in 1996 and happened in 1998. The Championship of 2008 was with the #2 most difficult schedule. (Okie's was ranked #1) No other school has down that either, btw. No Big East BS fake champ....play the champ game in your home stadium for The University of Florida.

It's foolish to bitch about schedule strength with the school that plays the #1 ranked most difficult schedule, don't you think?

Why not go whine about the team that plays, say the 10th toughest schedule.

You Miami U., Big East/Acc people need to go fu*k off. The Gators are not going to bring their tens of thousands of fans to fill you empty, rented stadium. You need the money...? go let USF or Central Florida buy your tickets. Oh Right. You are.

Florida uses it's massive football income to fund the #2 or #1 all around sports program in the country. Just built a multi million $$$ Women's Lacrosse facility, the best in The USA, for that sport which begins next year in The SEC.

So hope everyone enjoys Florida's 9th SEC game of the year this week vs #2 ranked Alabama. I'm sure this 9th SEC game of the season, National champ qualifying game for Florida is just like Miami U beating Rutgers and Temple and the playing some dog ...ON IT'S HOME FIELD,,,

5 in a row until The Lord Jesus Tebow finally beat them the season last.

He's just a puffy chest bullshit artist.

7. It is sad
I'll bet if you asked the players they'd be up for the game. It's college football as big business driving this kind of scheduling; Florida seems to think it preserves the value of their brand to swap a rivalry game for a sure W.

But there's no excuse for the 3 big-time Florida programs not to play one another every year...

The sec is a 12 team league now. They play 8 conference games now. Miami football needs Florida a lot more than Florida needs Miami. SEC is tops.

10. I don't make fucking Florida's schedule
All time Miami leads Florida by the astounding margin of 28/26(2 games) . They are scheduled to play in Miami in 2013. It is about the money. I would love to see these two asshole teams beat the shit out of each other every year. 28/26 is not year in and year out.Oh 2008 Fla 26 Miami 3. Kentucky is 5/3 all time vs. Miami, pussy motherfuckers! Go Cats beat Tenn. Have a fun Saturday.

25. Yea. A losing record in The ACC. Rules what?
Since upgrading from the Temple/Rutgers/UConn Big Least, Da U has an overall losing record in the ACC. You know the ACC? The Division winners lost to South Carolina and Georgia on Saturday?

Congrats on the big wins over Central and South Florida this season. You should be proud.

20. Why? Florida already plays the toughest schedule in the country....
Miami wants Florida to give them Florida's money. Why should florida do that? Florida is preping to play their 9th SEC game of the year and then it's 3rd Champ game in 4 seasons.

You, Miami, are being marginalized. You can't have Florida's money no matter how much you people bitch. Sorry.

17. Troy is the Sun Belt Champion
A decent team to schedule, however the other two teams not so much. I believe Troy would give a lot of College Football teams problems except for the elite ones.

23. It's real simple......
the home team in college football keeps all the money. Are you people aware of that? Playing a team at home makes millions for the home team. Florida doesn't do a return deal and play at Troy. So as long as all the seats are sold for Troy.... Florida makes millions to fund it's best in the country Women's programs and other Spring Sports. Also, paying $3 million for 2 time national champ basketball coach Donovan and $4 million for Urban Meyer has to come from somewhere, doesn't it?

The difference between a Florida and a Central Florida or Miami U is... all seats at Florida are sold out for a Troy or Miami U or other lesser programs. Miami U can't get 35,000 people for Clemson and can't even sell out when FSU brings tens of thousands to their rented stadium.

When asked why Florida fans sell every seat for a Troy or some such out of conference team... Florida fans say, "We came to see the Gator play. We don't give a damn who the other team is."

24. Oh---so it has nothing to do with the fact that Miami
Consistently kicked Gator ass the past two decades....

But I digress...

So the Chicken gators basically gave up the storied rivalry to add a patsies like Montana State, Troy, etc... so they can pay their high priced coaches?.

God damn---it's a good thing they play in the SEC and are forced to play high caliber teams or the Chicken ass Gators schedule would be full of Patsies playing in the swamp.
