Sorry Detroit...we don't need someone to feel sorry for
Edited on Wed Nov-25-09 11:55 AM by Upton
The Lions have not had a winning season since 2000. During that time they've gone 33-105. They are the joke of the league.

I want a REAL game on Thanksgiving morning..not someone or something to feel sorry for.

1. Like your lousy 49's?
Please. It was bad enough subjecting a national audience to the Bears game the other week...

3. My Niners have at least won 4 games
While the Lions, 4 times since 2000, have failed to win 4 games in an ENTIRE season. This includes years in which they put up win totals of 2,3,3, and last year's 0.

Most of the discussion surrounding the Lions is whether or not a good college team could beat them. In fact, that's an idea...lets have a Thankgiving day game with the Lions versus a decent college team. Too bad it will never happen, unlike the yearly slaughter Lions apologists demand the rest of the nation put up with.

Who said anything about pity??

It is something called TRADITION. I for one really like the tradition. So sad that you have to shite on something like that. As usual

6. Detroit apologists are all about PITY
take trumad's thread for example...the entire premise is based on PITY for the city of Detroit.

8. Clockwork...
I knew and so did others in the sports forum that you would not let us down with your douchebaggery.

Again---that is why you are and will continue to be the biggest douchebag in this forum.

Good job keeping that title.

Douche.

So I wouldn't talk if I were you.

5. The Niners aren't hosting a Thanksgiving day game either
every year like clockwork we football fans, as a captive audience, are subjected to the annual debacle hosted by the Lions on Thanksgiving.

I've had enough..

7. It's a shame the Browns didn't get scheduled for Thanksgiving
It would have been a great game, and if it turned out like last weeks game it would have been legendary.

I think the Lions will give the Packers a good game.

15. Ugh why did you have to remind me of 2002?
That was a painful year to get your hopes up and taken and buried away by the 2002 49ers. :(

Where's your bleeding heart?

winnning this game on Thanksgiving is a progressive's dream! Why, it will make the citizens of Detroit feel better. Dont you get it? It will also solve urban blight, unemployment, hunger, homelessness and cure cancer. The people of Detroit and Michigan dont have to work to solve these problems, everyone hoping their team wins on Thankgiving is substance enough

Oh yeah and it wouldn't be a sentient sports forum post unless I called you a douchebag :puke: :eyes:

Teams go up and down from year to year. Look at Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Giants, Ravens....

18. Why not alternate
Thanksgiving day game hosts from year to year?

Game #3 on the NFL Network has 2 different teams every year...why not game #1? Dallas can keep the second game but poor sad pitiable Detroit :eyes: has forfeited their right..

And didn't your 49ers have the highest payroll in the NFL when they won championships in the 80s?

As well as any team that pays it players for that matter.

What a silly, silly argument.

28. Look what I found..
The 1981 season saw Walsh lead the 49ers to a championship and marked the team's rise from the bottom of the NFL. While the 49ers were accused in the late 1980s of trying to 'buy' championships, Walsh's 1981 team won the Super Bowl with the lowest payroll in the league.

Hmm....can the Yankees say the same about any of their titles, at anytime during their history?

You've got a BOUGHT championship...it means little, except to deluded Yankee fans such as yourself.

22. Just indicative of the the throwaway, outsource it mentality in this country
Who cares if you started it, nurtureded it, kept it growing and made it a tradition? There are newer, flashier people waiting to kick you to the curb and take it over. Who cares about tradition? It's all about MEEEEE..."*I* want to see a different team so the hell with you." The same mentality that made people tear down architectually spectacular buildings because they'd rather build a new one than attend to the decay that the building was experiencing. Why should we preserve the old when we can replace it.

I HATE that way of thinking. I'm all for progress but not at this price; there is no sense of preservation about anything anymore. No pride in tradition. It makes me sad.

I'm glad there are so many people here who understand tradition. Without that, we have nothing. Nothing. It might be just a football game now but it's our whole way of life later.

You don't want to spend time with your SO and/or her relatives and you don't want to spend time with your own?

Does that mean your SO does not like cboy, or is your SO cboy?
