Last year, Lincecum said he jumped off his couch when he learned he won his first Cy Young. He said on his telephone conference call just now he was just as excited this time around.
"I almost dropped out of my window," he said. "Maybe not per se. I had to go out my window to get reception take the call. I was still trying to wake up. But it was a great moment for me and I was able to share it with a couple of people close to me: my dad, my brother and my girlfriend. So that was good."
Lincecum also said he had no idea how the vote was going to go.
"I really didn't know," he said. "Both the guys I was going up against in Wainwright and Carpenter had tremendous seasons. Given that, especially (with the surgery) Carpenter came off of and what Wainwright did as a workhorse, I didn't know how the cards were going to fall. It was a lucky one for me. I'll take them as they come, I guess."
