Why do you hate ESPN? My answer below...
Several reasons, Tim Jesus Christ Tebow, Brett God Favre, but the biggest reason is...

It's PHUCKING WEDENSDAY already! And what was SportsCenter's top story, for 10 minutes???? 4and 2!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus H Christ. It was one game, one call...not the playoffs or anything close to it!

1. Why do I hate eSECpn? Hmmmmm.....
....maybe it's their endless promotion of all things SEC. You'd think they had a financial investment in that conference. Oh, that's right! They fucking do!

That's what I heard on ESPN, so it must be right.

14. Their hatred for the Big Ten is well-known, joey.
Sure, the OSU-Florida debacle started it. But the emergence and popularity of the Big Ten Channel sealed it. It was a big 'fuck you' to eSECpn. 'We don't need you'....and the Big Ten doesn't. The Big Ten Channel is doing quite well. So, eSECpn turned all their considerable wrath on the conference. Now, it's everywhere. Just childish. Yet, Big Ten football still draws HUGE ratings on Saturdays for them.

I'm happy for your HS buddy as well as your team even though they lost. :)

Tuesday, Arizona State defeated TCU 52-48 ;)

However the same time they were praising the Big 10 they were knocking the Pac 10 saying they were down this year.

Who is sitting next to me yammering while I root for Utah State - this sports stuff is cyclical and it's the Big 10s year in hoops. According to him the conference is loaded (except for Iowa, oh my god, we're horrid. Lost at home to Texas - San Antonio - our first home loss in 33 years). Me, I know nothing about basketball....According to my beloved, we also lost to Duquesne whose best player was out with an injury. But we're a football school and as far as I'm concerned, that's not a bad thing.

At least when they talk about Brady (or the Patriots) this year they don't
show him getting his knee blown out from two angles in one segment.

One segment every two hours

All day

For the whole year.

"Oh look, Brady's knee gets injured again. Hey look!"

17. I watched that show religiously
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 10:52 AM by JonLP24
It was good not just for the highlights but the overall context of the game they did highlights for. I'm having a hard time explaining it but it was much more in-depth then just showing a few highlights and the final score.

Not a fan of NBC's show so instead I watch 'The Blitz' segments on ESPN after the afternoon game so while it's similar it's just not the same. NBC has the rights for the extended highlights(I was referring to) for the Sunday Night pregame show.

18. +1000: "overall context of the game"
This is a stretch, but It was like a mini-version of NFL films in that way. The producers helped us follow teams throughout the season -- why they won or lost, how they improved, declined, etc., from week to week, all neatly wrapped up in a few minutes. NBC had an opportunity to expand on that -- even improve on it -- but instead gave us fucked-up FNIA. It's a waste of my time and unwatchable because I can't help but compare it to PrimeTime.

In Kuwait/Iraq everything was 10(no DST in Kuwait)/11 hours ahead of Arizona so try watching games 8pm and 12am. I remember I was with a co-driver with a big Florida Gators fan from Lakeland, Fl. Great guy but we went back and forth a lot. When we arrived at CSC Scania(we drove at night-less visibility) it was about 5:30am Iraq time just in time to catch the Ohio State-Florida National Championship in Glendale, AZ.

As a Rockies fan who lives in Arizona I find this frustrating. Maybe my team doesn't deserve to be on national TV but mix it up a little. Like you said "Yankees, Red Sox, Yankees, Red Sox, Yankees, Red Sox"

The only Rockies games I do catch is when they play the Diamondbacks or on WGN when they play the Cubs.

38. Many of the reasons mentioned above
But among other things: they don't seem to like Cinderella stories anymore. They just want to promote big names, projected Heisman winners, blah blah blah. They seem to want people to tune in to see a player, rather than a team.

I hate how when they give scores they give a minute of stats along with it. Then, just when the score you've been waiting for is finally almost up, they go to a commercial. By the time they come back, it's gone. They usually repeat this trick three or four times in a row.

Finally, and the worst thing is, it seems as if my team loses a heartbreaker, or is upset, you have to see it over and over and over (Kordell Stewart pass, App State loss). But if they win on a spectacular play or lose on a bad call, you don't see or hear about it. I'm sure this is not specific to Michigan - it must happen to other teams too - but it does happen to Michigan!!!

Fourth reason: LeBron James.
