1. Pure speculation at this point....
...but if Ridriguez does get the ax, Michigan will make an all out play for one of their alumni who spurned them once. Les Miles. He has nothing left to prove at LSU and just might take the job this time.

2. I was kidding about Rich Rod but old Charlie is not long for N.D..
When he was recruiting T. Pryor he told him that the only person good enough to
coach him was Charlie Weis and then asked if his high school coaches wanted to
see his super bowl rings?

Michigan should be like Ohio State and have a guaranteed 6 or 7 wins per year
for just getting out of bed in the morning.

3. I'd like to hear what the Blue fans think, but I'm of the opinion...
...that Rodriguez is in trouble. With a big loss on the horizon to OSU and the current state of the program, I don't think Michigan keeps him.

9. Rod ran off
Ryan Mallett who transferred to Arkansas and as a Sophomore has passed for more then 2,800 yards in ten games this season on a team with barely a defense. And Mallett was 3-0 substituting for Henne while at Michigan.

11. I think UM has to give him 4 years, so that he can have a year with all his people in before he gets
the hook.

I personally hope they give him five years....

PS: At least LLLLLLoyd was a gentleman.

6. University president and AD have come out in support of Rich Rod
But speculation is if he doesn't win the Big Ten next year, he's toast.

I could just cry when I see where our program is now. He blew it.

13. Charlie did his best to save Rodriguez
Run out the clock against Michigan rather than throw and Michigan isn't even flirting with .500

Now if Weis had come in after Carr it might be one thing... but Rich basically chased all the players who don't fit his system, which means anyone stepping in soon has a lot of work to do. At this point I think Michigan really does need to ride it out and let him have at least a year or two with the recruits he brings in. A new guy would still have to work from scratch in recruiting a pocket passer and otherwise shaping the team.

14. I've always been willing to give Rich Rod the three years
but right now I have two problems with him. One, how can a coach of his supposed caliber not be able to transition to his offensive style? He apparently doesn't even have a full boat of scholarship plyaers. He seems to think he was handed a "broken" program, which was far from the case. Michigan had a bunch of injuries and went 8-4 in an OFF year - they still had lots of tools left in the shed for Rich Rod to work with. They still beat Florida in their bowl game.

My second problem with him, one that he can fix, is that he really doesn't get Michigan tradition. I disagree with his not naming senior captains. The game-day captaincy is not working because Michigan is not getting fired up for Big Ten games. And I also think that he doesn't understand the doing well in the Big Ten is a huge point of pride for Michigan fans. I don't need to hear here what people from the SEC or Pac-10 think. This is a Big Ten thing. The Big Ten is important to US.

15. Absolutely true on the Big 10 thing.
I'm an Ohio State fan, but I think its really good for the Big 10 when the Ohio State -Michigan rivalry means something. This is the first time I can recall in ages that the game is mostly meaningless...

Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 02:05 PM by JonLP24
Or does he root for someone else or not into sports?

Anyways grew up down the street from Sun Devil Stadium, still live 4 miles directly east of it so since I was in the area I grew up rooting for Arizona State and Arizona Cards. My favorite of the AFC is the Broncos because I was born in Colorado and most of my family still lives there. :)

27. Oh no my dad LOVES the Browns...
He used to go to the same gym as Reggie Williams and Anthony Munoz and would talk to them on a regular basis..He made it clear that he was a Browns fan, not a Bengals fan..and one day after joking around with Reggie Williams he came out to find Bengals stickers ALL over his car...

I actually wouldn't have been too upset if I lost my bet btw and had a Broncos avvie..the rest of my cousins that don't live in Ohio all live in the Denver/Boulder/Colorado Springs area..

19. Michigan week is always the most important game, regardless of record. I never underestimate
Michigan in "the GAME". This is their bowl game, record be damned. If Dick-rod can win this game the UM fans will FORGIVE HIM THE ENTIRE SEASON.

26. It's Jim Harbaugh who we are thinking of.
Played at Michigan and then played with several teams in the NFL, Bears, Colts, etc.

Now the coach of Stanford.

28. Yep, Jimmy, or Yimmy, as some Michigan people call him for some reason
Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 03:11 PM by LisaM
He's done way better at Stanford than I would have thought. And he's from a coaching family.

In the infamous words of Bo Schembechler, Michigan should be coached by a Michigan man! I'll give Rich Rod a little - A LITTLE - more time to understand what that means, but at this point, I don't think he gets it. It's the not getting it that is my chief problem with him.

30. As much as can be. I faithfully got out my dogs' bandanas
And got them washed and dried and flattened out. I got out my own silk Block M scarf and might wear it to work on Friday. I will get out every combination of lucky shirts, sweatshirts, hats and pants out that we own for Saturday, and I might even put out a flag. Also, I have two little "men" (actually, litte Michigan cake toppers) that I will put out.

I don't know what more I can do on my end.
