"Taxation Without Representation Field" (the Nationals field naming rights

The Nationals are coming to town...
...but apparently, DC is having trouble finding a company to pay for the naming rights, and hadn't even received a single offer in writing – until now. We have officially submitted the first written offer for a new name:

"Taxation Without Representation Field at RFK Stadium"
Think of it. Every time we enjoy the national pastime here in DC, we'll remind America that we lack another national tradition – democracy. Help us now! Get off your astroturf, and use the form below to make your pledge (we'll only ask you to pay if we can raise enough, so pledge as much as you can!).

To Whom It May Concern:

We understand that the naming rights are up for auction at RFK Stadium. But we read in the Washington Post that there have not been any written proposals yet. Accordingly, we hereby submit the first written proposal, for the following name:

"Taxation Without Representation Field at RFK Stadium."

Right now, we can officially offer $51.08. We're checking our pockets and sofa cushions for more as we speak. Panetta’s agreed to brown bag his lunch for a few weeks, and Hlinko will stop "Super sizing," so that should help as well. Oh, and we're also taking pledges on the web at TaxationWithoutRepresentationStadium.com, and hope to be able to add a few more hundred thousand to that.


We'd love to write our members of Congress to ask for their help as well (you know, a little old pork barrel style), but yeah, well...we don't have any.

1. If I remember correctly...

They didn't get to vote on whether or not they wanted to pay for the new ballpark either. So the name would be perfect for the new ballpark, nevermind the makeshift digs at RFK.

3. Corporate naming rights is a crime

and should be outlawed and punished by a maximum sentence of life without parole for the CEO who pursued the rights.
