When did Steve Bartman move to Seattle?
Twice in one game? Is Mr. Bartman running a fan interference camp somewhere deep in the northwest forest?

Well, more likely, it's just that M's fans have already given up and are drinking even more than usual, after watching Gil Meche revert to his early 2004 form and seeing Bobby M tear a ligament in the first week of the season.

M's get crowded out twice

"Another day, another gut-wrenching loss for the Mariners. And this time, even the fans seemed to get in the way of victory.

Not that the Mariners would ever pin a win or loss on their home crowd, of all people. But two men in the stands played a role in a 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers yesterday at Safeco Field.

The first incident happened in the top of the fourth inning with Rangers on first and third bases with one out and Texas leading 1-0. A foul ball off the bat of the Rangers' Rod Barajas hung up in the air as it headed for the spot down the right-field line where the seats jut into foul territory.

Ichiro, the Mariners' right fielder, clearly had a play. He stuck his glove into the seats, only to come up without the ball as a fan proudly displayed his prize. With Ichiro standing stunned by the fan's interference, the man who caught the ball actually tried to give the ball back to Ichiro.

..."

And today, we're sure to be treated to Kansas City's feared murderer's row pounding on Ryan Franklin's floaters.

Well, I guess that's life in the great northwest!

1. The Astros fans helped them take away a Reds homer yesterday
Adam Dunn knocked the ball out of the park and one of the Astros' fans threw a different baseball on the field right away so the umpire would think it just bounced off the wall. It worked though because the Ump said it never left the park despite the fact that it did.

2. Must be Franklin's evil twin.

He's pitching lights out, so far 15 hitters
retired in a row.

Of course I post that and then he gives up a
walk and a bloop fly ball.

:grr:

3. Yeah, Hargrove needs to tell him he's not in the rotation.
Keep him good and pissed off, and look what happens!

4. Whatever works, right?
Wondered why Franklin was relieving.

I was just surprised the game was today instead
of tomorrow. They traveled overnight, played today,
and have tomorrow off.

Strange.

5. Yeah, the schedule is bizarre for all of MLB it seems.
Some teams have had a number of days off, but at least one (I can't remember which) plays 20 days in a row strarting opening day. I suppose there's some justification, but it's difficult to see.

6. Leave it to the Mariners to make an 8-0 lead
interesting.

I don't know if my poor heart can stand it.
