Cowboys @ Eagles: This Is Why We Watch Football
http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2009/11/5/1117165/cowboys-eagles-this-is-why-we#storyjump
So let's go through the checklist:

Playing a high-quality NFC opponent? Check.

Playing a divisional game? Check.

Playing a team for outright control of the NFC East at the midway point of the season? Check.

Two evenly matched opponents based on records and stats? Check.

Playing on Sunday night? Check.

One team trying to avenge an embarrassing loss that knocked them out of the playoffs last year, while sending the other to the playoffs? Check.

Playing a team we absolutely despise?! Double, no, triple check.

Should be one for the ages. Both teams seem to be peaking.

4. thanks mad, i've been lurking
I'm feeling good about this one...after that Giants' loss (an inferior team, which made the loss all the more painful) it's been interesting to see Dallas get slowly better. The pieces are in place on the field, it's up to the coaches to call a good game.

Eagles are looking good too. I hope the Cowboys crush them.

who do you speak for? I am guessing the Eagles? Are you an Eagles fan? I don't know....

but yes, it is the most hated rivalry in football, so it makes for a good get together of ruffian friends ( and cheerleader opponents to bash ) there is an entire deer we will be grilling on Sunday..thanks to a hunter friend of mine

6. He's a Cowboy fan. And all of the teams in the NFC East ABSOLUTELY despise
each other.

Anytime they meet, its going to be a good old fashioned slug fest!

10. Reasons to pull for the Eagles
  • Donovan McNabb knows how to handle a Heavy Rush.
  • They're playing the Cowboys.

the Eagles will never be as great as the Cowboys.

17. series history
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 11:45 PM by mix
The Cowboys hold a 53-43 advantage in their all-time regular season series with the Eagles, including a conventional split of last year's home-and-home. Dallas won a 41-37 home thriller when the teams met in Week 2 of last season, but as previously mentioned, were drilled by a 44-6 count with a playoff berth on the line at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 17. Dallas last won in Philly in 2007, coming up a 38-17 winner in a primetime game there.

In addition to their regular season advantage, the Cowboys have a 2-1 edge in the postseason series. The Eagles were 20-7 winners in the 1980 NFC Championship, while Dallas won NFC Divisional Playoff games over Philadelphia following the 1992 and 1995 seasons.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid has a career record of 14-6 against the Cowboys. Dallas' Wade Phillips is 3-2 all-time against both Philadelphia and Reid all- time, with the first of those wins coming in the form of a 26-0 rout for Phillips' Bills over the Eagles in 1999.

This is a winnable game for the Cowboys, as recent history suggests.
