Troubles mount for Raiders Coach -- more assault allegations
San Francisco Chronicle, 11-2-09

Two women said Raiders coach Tom Cable assaulted them multiple times in previous relationships, and Cable conceded he once hit a woman more than 20 years ago.

An ex-wife and ex-girlfriend made their abuse claims to ESPN's "Outside the Lines," which aired Sunday before the Raiders played the Chargers.

The allegations come 10 days after the Napa district attorney's office decided not to charge Cable with assaulting assistant Randy Hanson, who told police that Cable broke his jaw in an August training-camp altercation.

Sandy Cable said her first husband hit her in the jaw in 1988. She obtained a restraining order and filed for divorce, according to the ESPN report.

(Raiders) plans to 'evaluate' Cable case

San Francisco Chronicle, 11-3-09

The Raiders will undertake a "serious evaluation" of recent claims that head coach Tom Cable assaulted women during past relationships, the team announced Monday.

Cable admitted to once slapping his first wife more than 20 years ago, when he was a college assistant, but denies he assaulted an ex-girlfriend in January. Both women made their allegations public in Sunday's episode of "Outside the Lines" on ESPN.

The Raiders said that, in conjunction with the NFL offices, they will look into the allegations and take Cable's partial admission into consideration before deciding what their next step might be.

"We wish to be clear that we do not in any way condone or accept actions such as those alleged," the statement said.

4. The Raiders are now blaming ESPN
The Raiders said that ESPN has something against their organization, that's why they did the story. No, could it be that Tom Cable is a pig who has just gotten away with it for years. Cable's current wife lied to the press on Sunday. She said that she was there when Cable's ex-girlfriend was hit. But according to the police report, she was upstairs and wasn't aware of anything. What is the league doing about this?? Shouldn't he be held to the same criteria that the players are held to??

7. I believe that you are referring to his ex wife
I saw the story...She gets alimony and child support I believe, so I'm thinking Cable blackmailed her into lying. Cable is obviously a scumbag.

8. No, his current wife, too
She claimed she was there that night and nothing happened. It's kind of funny (not really), but his girlfriend had some terrible bruises for nothing happening.

Both his 2nd wife and now 3rd wife are enablers. That's why he keeps getting away with this. His 2nd wife even said the reason they got divorced was because of mental and physical abuse.

6. It would seem he likes to punch people when he gets mad.
Bad things happen to people like that.

Tough shit, Mr. Cable.
