Iowa should have at least the number four spot.

2. They beat Oregon
Oregon got it's only loss from Boise State. Also Utah got it's only loss from Oregon.

5. I don't know where SI got it's rankings
but Boise St is #7 and Oregon is #8 in the actual BCS Rankings.

if everyone protested by not going to the Bowl games or watching on TV.

20. Thats what I'm doing
I usually only watch 1 game per year the RRR game, and after that I keep track of scores via ESPN, or the internet.

Hell, the last bowl game I watched was the Boise St vs OU game a few years back.

9. I agree
I've been in favor of 8 team for awhile now. 16 is over half of the top 25 and with a 16 team formant it makes winning in the regular season less important.

10. When you think about it, an 8 team playoff only adds one more game on the year.

11. One, if you count the conference championships.
Two if you don't (e.g. MWC and Big 10).

How about no playoff and no BCS? Like they did it for decades.

13. That was an incredibly flawed way of determining the National Championship

BCS may have it's problems and it's way better than the old system. In 1996 you had an undefeated #1 Florida State team playing a #3 Florida in the Sugar Bowl who the Seminoles already beat. Than you had an undefeated #2 Arizona State team playing a #4 Ohio State team in the Rose Bowl due to obligations with the Big Ten/Pac 10. 2 years later you had an undefeated Nebraska team play someone somewhere but you had an undefeated Michigan team locked into the Rose Bowl. Way too much controversy and teams getting National Championships on just by voting alone. The BCS was needed to pit the #1 vs #2 team. They've had a National Champion decided on for decades but the BCS at least improved on the old way which sucked terribly.

12. I understand that the national pundits (Van Pelt, Cowherd)...
..have said that we've played nobody and don't belong in the Top Ten? Is that right?

16. Check this out, Jon.
It's gotten so bad, our SID had to get involved.

GET THE CORRECT FACTS ON IOWA FOOTBALL
It seems popular for national pundits to criticize the University of Iowa football team these days. Many have said Iowa doesn’t belong on the same board with Florida, Texas, Alabama, Cincinnati, TCU, Oregon or Boise State. Iowa’s schedule has been rated the seventh toughest in the nation. Only one team in Big Ten history has beaten Penn State, Michigan State and Wisconsin on the road in the same season (Michigan did it in 1997). The two schools Iowa does not play in the Big Ten this year have the worst overall records (Purdue and Illinois) in the league. To say Iowa hasn’t played a strong enough schedule is to be totally misinformed. Please look at the facts below.

Number of opponents defeated that currently have winning records:
1. Iowa 6
2. Cincinnati 4
TCU 4
4. Oregon 3
5. Boise State 2

Total won-lost records (and winning %) of defeated opponents:
1. Iowa 44-31 .586
2. Oregon 29-28 .508
3. TCU 34-33 .507
4. Cincinnati 30-36 .454
5. Boise State 27-37 .421

Total won-lost records of opponents defeated in their home stadiums (i.e. road wins)
1. Iowa 23-12 .657
2. TCU 19-14 .575
3. Cincinnati 21-20 .512
4. Boise State 14-18 .437
5. Oregon 6-10 .375

Number of defeated opponents ranked in current BCS Top 25:
1. Iowa 3 (Penn State, Arizona, Wisconsin)
Oregon 3 (USC, Utah, California)
3. Boise State 1 (Oregon)
4. Cincinnati 1 (South Florida)
5. TCU 0

Won-lost records of remaining teams left on schedule:
1. Iowa 17-10 .629
2. Oregon 19-12 .612
3. Cincinnnati 19-13 .593
4. Boise State 20-22 .476
5. TCU 15-17 .468

If Penn State was undefeated I have no doubt they would be saying they're the best team in the country like last year until they lost to Iowa. Whoever they face they have beaten and should be in the talks especially if they win next 3 games. I don't know much about Northwestern but Ohio State is a pretty good team and Minnesota I'm not sure but the Gophers have a really good receiver that goes by Eric Decker. I've seen Decker play and he is very good from what I've seen.

Edit -- There is a reason Iowa is #4 in the BCS despite the fact the polls have them lower -- it's the schedule they've faced.

Keep winning. The minute we lose, it's " I told you so". Fair or not, that's life.
