Baseball question - Who gets the "win" in the following scenario? Last night's Phils-Yankees game
Lidge blows lead in top of ninth inning, half-inning ending with the score 7-4 Yankees.

Lidge is lifted for pitch hitter in bottom of ninth.

Phillies go on to score four runs and win (I can dream, can't I?).

Lidge is out of game (for pitch hitter) but possible 10th-inning pitcher is never announced and obviously, does not enter game since Phils win in bottom of ninth. Does Lidge still get "victory" even though he is not in game when it is won?

Can the official scorer give the victory to no one in this instance?

1. Lidge was the picture of record. He would have gotten the win in your scenario.
If they had tied it in the bottom of the ninth, then he would have only been off the hook for the loss, but would not have gotten a victory.

Either way, he gets credit for a blown save.

6. I didn't watch the game, and made the assumption from the post that
Lidge came in with a lead.

My bad.

2. Lidge still gets the win
He is the pitcher of record at the point. Joba Chamberlin (sp??) got the win even though he gave up the game-tying run in the 8th

3. Happens all the time.
Closer blows the save, but gets the victory.

4. Lidge would've gotten the win.
He was the last pitcher of record.
