1. Doing this before the standings
Still keeping the same strategy of picking teams I like more so that explains North Carolina instead of V-Tech.

Tar Heels
Auburn
Iowa
Arizona State
Florida
South Carolina
Oklahoma State
USC

3. An Ohio State Fan would NEVER paint their house that color.
Fuchsia (sp)??

:wtf:

Condem, Don't let your wife pick the colors!

5. You chose that color?
:wtf: Condem.

BTW, my daughter's room is pretty much that color, though a bit more towards Pepto Bismol!

Why not the colors of the Hawkeyes??

6. Black in the summertime, mad?
Something funny. There's a petition to paint the water tower by Kinnick (you can see it occasionally on the broadcasts) black and gold. A prof laughed and said "a black water tower? Are you fucking kidding me?" True story. I love pink. Matches our Visitors locker rooms.

8. I just woke up happy and told her of your revelation.
She said "next paintjob. If we win it all." There you go, mad. So, now we has to beat OSU at the "Shoe". Then, whomever.

9. Happy halloweenie, everyone.
It's been a sad few days in Norman. Should be fun putting a beatdown on Kansas State on Saturday. It'll be even better if the Cowboys kill and eat Bevo.
My picks are:
Virginia Tech
Mississippi State
Iowa
Cal
Georgia (for god's sake, UGA, motivate your troops)
Tennessee
OSU
Oregon

My fun game, of course, is The Oklahoma Sooners over Kansas State. And Rutgers, over whomever they're playing.

10. More punishment after a 2-5 week. I'm a sucker for the points, so maybe this week...
North Carolina +16.5 @ Virginia Tech -----Hokies
Mississippi -4.5 @ Auburn ------War Eagle
Indiana +17.5 @ Iowa -----Those points look tasty, but no I-O, W-A
Cal -6.5 @ Arizona State -----California dreamin' on a dreary fall day
Georgia +16 @ Florida ----Bulldogs' bowl game, with points
South Carolina +6 @ Tennessee -----Rockytop
Texas -9 @ Oklahoma State --------The Horns' hook the Boys
USC -3.5 @ Oregon ----Please prove me wrong ducks, but Boys of Troy

For fun: Question to all who read --does Illini get off the schnide and win a BFS game against a defense challenged Michigan team at home? The answer, NO. fireronzook.com

11. Picks for Week 9
Edited on Wed Oct-28-09 07:40 AM by RT Atlanta
First, this is fun and Condem I really appreciate your time and effort and putting this little pick-em together each week and especially when it comes to tallying the results.

Hoping to get back above .500 this week....

Thursday
North Carolina +16.5 @ Virginia Tech ==> NC

Saturday (Halloween & the last day of Daylight Savings Time)

Mississippi -4.5 @ Auburn ==> Auburn - as AU reached the meat of its schedule, its lack of depth has really shown up. Hopefully, the Tigers get things turned around on the Plains this weekend (although their track record of morning games is abysmal is recent years)

Indiana +17.5 @ Iowa ==> Indiana

Cal -6.5 @ Arizona State ==> Cal

Georgia +16 @ Florida ==> UG-Athens... time to sober up gator fans. It may be the largest cocktail party, but UG-Athens has rarely shown up in the last 2 decades. That being said, I think the bulldogs beat the spread and may, somehow, someway, find a way to beat UF outright.

South Carolina +6 @ Tennessee ==> USC Gamecocks (Darth Visor "welcomes" Kiffin to the league)

Texas -9 @ Oklahoma State ==> Okie State

USC -3.5 @ Oregon ==> So. Cal

12. Thanks, RT.
I enjoy coming home Tuesday nights and putting it together. Look forward to it all day. We'll do the Bowls this year. We'll have a regular season Champ and the post season victor. Take us well into January. Then, only a coupla months til' March Madness.

18. lol it's ok
I almost put (pick Cal) next to my ASU pick but I think ASU can pull out a win. That Stanford QB was awesome and there was nothing they can do to stop him. He played much better than highly touted Jake Locker did against ASU's defense.

17. Mine.....
UNC (though neither would be preferable)
Mississippi (even I can't explain myself)
Indiana (love the Hawks, hate the spread)
Arizona State (I'm rootin' for you Jon)
Dawgs (love the Dawgs and hate the spread)
South Carolina (I want to see Spurrier get all frisky)
Texas (okay, maybe)
USC (my love for waterfowl must be waning)

While anything can and does happen in the ACC, this was a surprise to most of us.

20. They probably thought the points were too high
There is no strategy involved in my picks. I just pick who I want to win and don't worry about the points. In the NFL picks thread I use my head a little more.

22. It was the points for me
However, I am glad they won. When my school played them a few years ago, they could not stop talking about the cheap shots Beamer's team took throughout the game - especially the stomach punches and eye pokes in the pile ups. I was very happy for the Tar Heels to hand tech a loss. Congrats Heel fans!

23. Late picks...
I was out on business travel all this week, so I missed this.

I'll post my picks for Saturday's game, and I'll take a loss for the Thursday game, even if I probably would have picked UNC due to that spread.

Saturday (Halloween & the last day of Daylight Savings Time)
Mississippi -4.5 @ Auburn -- Mississippi
Indiana +17.5 @ Iowa -- Indiana
Cal -6.5 @ Arizona State -- ASU
Georgia +16 @ Florida -- Florida
South Carolina +6 @ Tennessee -- Tennessee
Texas -9 @ Oklahoma State -- Texas
USC -3.5 @ Oregon -- USC

25. A Modest Proposal
So - I've played in football pools in the past. Then life gets complicated for some reason or another and there's a week that I can't get my picks in. With a whole week lost, I start to lose interest since clearly, I'm done for the season. And so, a modest proposal; what if at the end of the season, everyone's worst week gets dropped?
