Bradford intends to enter NFL draft after surgery
(This is really too bad. Now his injury will be in question for the draft.)

By JEFF LATZKE (AP) – 4 hours ago

ST. LOUIS — Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford will have season-ending shoulder surgery and expects to enter the NFL draft in April.

The Oklahoma quarterback injured his right, throwing shoulder twice this season, most recently against Texas on Oct. 10.

The school announced Sunday that Dr. James Andrews will perform the operation Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala. Bradford is expected to address reporters following the Sooners' practice on Monday night in Norman, Okla.

"I dreamed about coming to Oklahoma my whole life," Bradford said Sunday in a statement. "That's the reason I came back for this season. And I came back to play, not sit on the bench. That's the reason I tried to play after the injury. I'm very disappointed that it didn't work out differently....

1. But with an untested bum shoulder, he'll have no market value...

2. LOL. Welcome to the 6th round, dude.
You wonder sometimes if these kids are stupid all on their own, or if they're just getting really bad advice.

4. I bet money he goes in 1st-2nd round
It all depends on how he does in workouts and if he is as accurate as he has been he should be fine.

7. He's not stupid...
I'd wager him as smart as many people on this board. A really, really bright kid.

But, no one ever imagines an injury. Most people here were hoping that he'd get surgery and come back next year to prove all the things he intended to prove this season.

But, I'm never going to make millions, I'll only be a lowly professor. What do I know?

3. Should have gone after Heisman/BCS game. Think about it, what are the odds you are going to have
a better season than that? Unless, of course, you are Jesus-Tebow (future 3rd round pick at tight-end/fullback).

5. Yup, he's proof you should go when you're at your peak...
...I'm all for 4 years of college, but here's an example of a kid who should have gone, and now the injury really lessens his market value.

6. Damaged goods
doesn't matter what the doctors say or how well Bradford throws in the Combine, that shoulder injury is going to dog him.. bringing down his market value. He's certainly going to be looked upon as brittle.

The dope cost himself millions by returning to OU for another year..

8. It might work out for him well in the long run
I feel bad for him that his college career has ended this way. Had it not been for the injury to Gresham just before the season started, then perhaps Bradford's season wouldn't have gone the way it did, but c'est la vie.

If he'd entered the draft last year, he'd be playing for the Lions right now, which hasn't worked out so well for Matt Stafford, who has missed the last couple games due to injury. If he'd come out last year he would have made millions, but there are all kinds of examples of early picks who washed out because they were asked to shoulder (pun unintended) too much too soon.

He won't be the top pick, like he probably would have last year, but it's not a great class for QBs, and so it isn't likely he'll fall too far. I've seen several scouts saying he'll still be a first round pick, and if he's picked late in the 1st or sometime in the 2nd, perhaps he'll be in a better position to succeed in the long term.

9. With the 3rd overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Cleveland Clowns select Sam Bradford.
