Coghlan (Fl Marlins) makes history with single Sunday

To be mentioned in the same breath as Ichiro Suzuki and Todd Helton says something about Chris Coghlan as a hitter.

With a single in the fourth inning on Sunday, Coghlan surpassed Todd Helton's National League record for hits in a month by a rookie.

The hit was Coghlan's 46th in August. It's the most hits by a rookie in any month since Ichiro collected 51 in August 2001. Helton, the previous NL holder, had 45 in August 1998.
