I would personally like to thank Jim McGiver
for blowing both CC Sabathia's perfect game and then his no-hitter!

For those not watching today's Red Sox/Yankees game, McCarver first blabbed about how baseball players superstitiously do not say the words "perfect game" when one is in progress, and then followed up in the next inning by talking about the no-hitter.

I hope he will soon start talking about the shut-out, so we could get a few runs!

1. Is McCarver a current baseball player?

2. No, but announcers don't normally say those words, either.
At least not our regular Red Sox announcers.

3. nonsense
You're telling me that an announcer isn't going to inform his listeners that a no hitter is in progress? Come on.

4. You cranky today?
I am just looking for a little bit of happiness where I can find it. The last 2 games have us a little freaked out. Not to mention the disaster in Tampa.

To answer your question, it is true that Red Sox announcers do not say those words when a no hitter is in progress. They let us know every way they can but they do not say those words.

5. McCarver went out of his way to say "perfect game" in the 3rd inning.
Then railed about how dumb it was to be superstitious about stuff like that. I couldn't believe it - Tim McCarver said something smart!
