1. How is Al Arbour not in the top ten?
I'd put him ahead of Phil Jackson.

2. No way
Jackson's win percentage is incredible for the # of years he has been in. I glanced at Arbour's record and he had quite a few years below .500 and not very many above .700

3. Arbour had 19 straight post season series victories
and did not have the talented teams that Bowman had througout his career. ANd that 19 straight post season victories is a record that still stands today. As great as Edmonton was they could never come close to matching that, nor Bowman's Penguins/Red Wings or Phil Jacksons Lakers/Bulls.

Arbour is one of the greatest to ever coach a pro sports team and never gets any recognition for it.

Look at the team Arbour worked with in 93 to beat Bowman's heavily favored Pittsburgh Penguins.

4. Well I don't know shit about shit about Hockey so I will concede your point
Phil Jackson has been in the postseason every year he coached and had 5 below 20 loss seasons which is very difficult to accomplish. I say Jackson belongs where he is and isn't done yet.

6. They have Al Arbour #39
They think Bill Belichick is a better coach?

Pat Riley as a better coach than Al?

Who ever made that list is an idiot.

11. Its a double header today
I'm not making much of the little streak right now although it is nice.

Every team in the league gets hot at some point and I suppose it's the Mets due.

wut?

He couldn't have done it without the awesome players at his disposal.

I'd rather see Tommy Lasorda in there somewhere instead of Jackson.

19. This list is a joke.
Heavily biased towards football coaches. 21/50 either college football or NFL. And how does Shula come in at 5, and Noll and Landry at 15 and 18 respectively?

22. That list is ridiculous
here we have Bill Walsh, winner of 3 Super Bowls, the father of the west coast offense and the scripting of the first 15 plays..a genius and a legend.

And on the second anniversary of this great man's death, we seem him disrespected to the tune of ranking him 26th.

23. Walsh should be much higher -- perhaps the top 10.
Not just for the system he perfected 29 years ago (and still emulated today), but for the way he ran a football team off the field also.

24. Mike Shannahan was known to script 15 plays
Walsh's presence is still felt with the number of coaches that came under his wing and emulate his style today. Good call Upton.

which is what would push Bill Walsh down the list.

30. Who gives a crap..
what the Sporting News says? It's all subjective. Don't blow a gasket and you can separate your lips from Walsh's ass any time now.
