Giants back on track...knock off Pirates 4-3
Matt Cain won his league leading 11th game, Brian Wilson picked up his 24th save...and 4 consecutive 6th inning doubles, one by the NL's best third baseman Pablo Sandoval, led to an ending of the Pittsburgh jinx.

1. Yay for losing 2 of 3! That'll surely get them into the playoffs!

3. Against a team you and CBoil love to trash
Ya know, those lowly Pirates.

This where blowing those final games of potential sweeps start to hurt. Notice that Chicago, Houston, and Milwaukee are back in it with plenty of season left to play.

Now you have a four game set against Atlanta, who are very far from the Braves of the nineties but still capable of stringing a few wins together. They are also pretty decent on the road.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

4. Funny, They Ginats damn near blew a 3 run least again the Pirates, to
salvage a SINGLE win against the Pirates.

5. I had a bad feeling
particularly in the 8th after the Pirates had cut it to 4-3 and had a runner on...but a DP took care of that. A DP, if a remember correctly, that came on a 3-0 count. I think that was LaRoche too.

16. That's typical of Adam LaRoche. I think his brother Andy
is the one the Pirates will keep.

6. Giants manager Bruce Bochy commented after the game
"There's no getting around it -- today's win was big for the club. The last thing you want to do is start the half getting swept. Our offense has been sputtering there. But I've said this before, sometimes it takes one guy to come through and get a hit. Pablo did it. It got contagious that inning and guys loosened up a little bit."

Once again the best third baseman in the NL comes through...and not by waiting for a walk either.

7. Like it matters how the runs are scored.
You trying to tell us you wouldn't have taken a winning run on a walk today? You would have been posting about brilliant it was.

And coaches and players should never say anything, just tape a note on their heads that says "cliche".

9. Sure a walk in some instances is fine
but the Giants were 0 ER for the series going into the 6th inning today, they needed someone to jump start the offense, and Bochy is saying that's exactly what the Panda did.

12. It's really humorous reading the comments from the ones who lost a series
to the Pirates.

It's disgraceful the way the one who has me on ignore commented and refuses to comment to me!

:D

8. Disgraceful and embarrassing performance against the worst franchise in
all of Major League Baseball.

Fortunately the annual pilgrimage is over and the Giants can re-group.

They can continue aiming toward the playoffs, while the Pirates aim toward another week of tiny crowds and continued losses.

11. Maybe their not the worst
They just play in a tough division.

But you would never figure that out.

13. They're about to set the all-time record for consecutive losing seasons.
Who is worse than that?

And the Giants for some reason always find a way to make Pittsburgh seem like they're a better team than they are.

But the truth is, they are terrible. Just look at the record.

14. This year's team in itself isn't the worst
I think the Nats can be said to hold that title but the Pittsburgh franchise is an entirely different story.

Not only don't they want to pay their players so they can compete but, partly because of that, they are 28th in MLB in attendance..and then there's that consecutive season losing streak.

15. And yet, with all of that, they still have a more recent title than Frisco.
