Another idea for MLB all star game
Since the national broadcast sports media (ESPN and TBS) wants all Redsox/Yankees/Mets/Phillies all the time, I think the All Star game should have stars from the other 28 teams against the aforementioned teams. Hmmm, wonder what kind of team we could come up with outside the Norteast corridor?
1b- The incomparable Albert Pujols
2b-Ian Kinsler
SS- Marco Scutaro
3b- Chipper Jones. I would like to say Aramis Ramirez who, by his absence, is proving just how good he is.
LF- Ryan Braun.
CF- B.J. Upton
RF- Ichiro Suzuki. Remember him? He has reached base safely in all but one game this year. Remarkable.
C- Joe Mauer. If Mauer played on the east coast, he'd get coverage on a daily basis because he has batted at or over .400 all season.
Throw in Halladay, Carpenter, F. Hernandez, Ted Lilly as starting pitchers and this team would destroy any east coast team one could put together. And yes, I know Halladay is currently on the DL. But he will be back getting batters out again soon.

1. Yanks, Sox, Mets, Cubs, Braves, Dodgers play in their own financial league. Yes, Cubs. nt

2. Except I didn't say financial league
I said what the national carriers of MLB carry week after week. I could also put together a team of lower salaried players that I'm convinced could beat high salaried teams as well. Alfonso Soriano is a high priced bust and he's a Cub. Mr. no clutch.

4. Which 2 phantom teams are you talking about?
MLB has 29 pro teams and the Nationals. So 28 "other" teams than the 4 you mentioned means that somehow you came up with 32 teams.

6. Oops. My bad.
I fucked up. I am sorry. But I still say my idea is a good one if for nothing else, to show the MLB carriers that there is some fine baseball outside the northeastern corridor and it would be nice if someone paid attention.

9. I'm a BoSox fan, but I agree with you.
I only get to see some teams during the highlight reels or when MLB Network goes to the end of a game during their programming. I was some of this and say, why aren't they showing these games on Fox/ESPN, etc?

5. Don't forget Fox! Their "Sat game of the week" is 8 times out of 10 R. Sox v Skankees.

7. Except when it's the Mets! (used to always be the Braves).
Imagine my delight on Saturday when the Mets got rained out and they switched to the Tigers! Now, I like the Mets fine, I really do. But what had me cheesed was that we pay the big bucks for the baseball package, and Fox has decreed that there be a national blackout on all games except their game of the week on Saturday afternoons. So despite paying money, unless the Tiges play on Saturday evening (not fan friendly) or are somehow on the Game of the Week (HIGHLY unusual), I can't see them, even though we pay for it.

12. You guys have a nice stadium, I really liked the outside with the Tiger accents and the statues
of the Tigers greats on the inside. The ferris wheel, I can do without. The 24 ounce beers for 8.00$, not a bad idea.

14. You can't see the wheel from the seats for the most part
when I went last summer, we went with a six-year old boy and we rode it (we were there well before the game). It was actually fun, though I agree that a ballpark doesn't need that. He had a good time - he called his father (well, his mom called for him) and he said, "Guess where I am? In a BIG BASEBALL!" How fun is that?

Comerica does show some nice skyline views. And of course it's full of peppy Tigers fans, which helps any place.

8. As a Sox fan I honestly do sympathize.
They do show them all the time. The Sox/Yanks rivalry probably brings in good ratings for them, but I understand where you're coming from.

10. I think those 4 teams combined could easily beat the rest of the league combined.

11. Maybe destroy isn't accurate...
These 4 teams would be fielding a lineup something like this...
1B - Teixiera OR Howard OR Youkilis
2B - Utley OR Pedroia
SS - Jeter (normally Rollins and Reyes would mean something, but neither have had very good years)
3B - A-hole or Wright (or Lowell for that matter)
LF - Bay
CF - Beltran, or Ellsbury, or Victorino

I'll admit we're a little weak at RF, but we could probably cobble something together here from Drew, Cabrera, Werth and Church
C - We don't have anyone in Mauer's league.

And I'd take Santana, Beckett, Sabathia, Hammels, Burnett, Lester, Papelbon, Rivera and K-Rod against just about anyone.

YOu'd be lucky to get a win at all.
