As almost everyone here knows, I research and write about the Religious Hardright. I also happen to be a believer - a believer (non-Christian, non-Muslim, non-Jewish, but Religious Scientist) who learns about and honors all spiritual paths and traditions (and lack thereof), and who unites with other believers and non-believers to address the Religious Hardright's voter-propanganda-machine.

Richard Land is definitely part of the Religious Hardright machine, and he made sure he was in the picture related to the ban of the D&X Procedure (the so-called "Partial Birth Abortion Act").

Yep, I'd say that you're right. There are parallels between the behavior of AUTHORITARIANS in history and current AUTHORITARIAN religious zealots.

6. The cheering on is repugnant, but might they not have a point?

Some of the historical parallels mentioned might not still apply. For the good of the planet, we need to reverse the current population growth rate, and enter a slow, steady decline in population to take pressure off the ecosystem. We're in an era where lower population is a strength, not a weakness. Then again, that which is a strength on a planetary scale might not be a strength on a national scale.

If it's true that conservatives are, in general, producing more children than liberals (and I see no reason to presume that isn't true), these trends could be troubling. Thing is, if it is a problem, what would you do about? Try to cheer on a "make more liberal babies" movement? While obviously conservatism and liberalism are not clear and simple hereditary traits, for both genetic and cultural reasons I suspect it's true that liberals tend to produced more liberals, and conservatives likewise.

(And by the way, no matter how many people chime in her to tell us about their own kids, that doesn't change the overall picture. :) )

Hows that going to help them when the environment breaks down, and all their children starve to death. Its going to happen eventually, no doubt about it. So have more babies, you fucking moron religoius conservatives. You and your ilk worldwide are digging your own fucking graves (and mine too).

10. From what I see around here ...

in Hardright Fundamentalist, Ca. (Murrieta, Ca. - 1 hour north of San Diego - inland) ... they ARE having more kids. We only have 1 - and we 'dopted her. And most fellow progressives only have 1.

But, I have a feeling that some of those kids will grow up to be progressives.

I did, despite my parents having belonged to the John Birch Society, and having grown up in Orange County, Ca.

By the way, my parents' mistake was letting me essentially be raised by my progressive, independent, paternal grandmother. Too bad - they should have thought of the consequences (HeeHee)!

We're just smart enough to know it's not responsible for everyone to be spawning like rabbits. Unfortunately the conservatives will overpopulate the world and deplete the resources for all of us.
