Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 01:01 AM by DanCa
Hey all does anyone have any links to just what a id curriculum would require and look like course wise. I was just wondering if someone has a link. Note I am sure that there going to use alot of rw wing prolife propaganda I just was wondering where the source material was comming from.

1. Creationism
A month or two I saw some material which quoted from an ID text. They found that it was exactly the same as an older text supporting creationism. They just replaced "creationism" with "intelligent design" where ever it appeared.

4.  See I got a feeling its more the sunday school creationism.

I helped with the sunday school at my church and father jim made us keep politics and opinion out of the equation. At last I feel that ID design will be based more like the rite of christian initian for adults, based in the rc course and that there will be alot right wing talking points.

3. I was wondering what the final exam would look like.
Every answer could only be, "The Supreme Being did it."

6. That's the biggest problem.

After the school boards mandate ID, after the legislatures make laws requiring ID, after ignorant religious loonies lobby for ID, what the teachers are left with is one text, "The Panda's Thumb" and not one shred of lesson plan, or curriculum on which to base lessons.

Oh, about "The Panda's Thumb". Until recent editions there were all sorts of religious clap trap in it. Of course, since it's not current practice to spew the religious claptrap it's kind of been... changed... rewritten a bit... just a little bit... to remove the Bible quotes, and all the other Biblical literalist garbage.

On top of that, "The Panda's Thumb" does not contain a single positive statement of precisely what ID *is*. Instead, the book just aims barbs at evolution, which, afterall, is what all this creationist business is about.

7. And again whose religion do we use.
There are many branches within christianity despite what the media wants too you too think . Lets call Id what it really is prolife Indoctornation. Thats basically what I feel there going to force down are kids throats and I am strongly against that and any religion being taught in a public school.

ID is unteachable!

There is no material that doesn't cross the line. That's because the whole ID thing has a sacred purpose. I'm a former HS math teacher. My education was in physics. If I were teaching ID I would teach them about the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

9. "Of Pandas and People," not "The Panda's Thumb."
The ID textbook in the Dover trial is "Of Pandas and People." "The Panda's Thumb" is a collection of the late Steven Jay Gould's "This View of Life" columns from Natural History.

Two very different books!

12. Mea culpa.
That's the book. Sorry, I trusted my memory. Shame on me.
I knew it had Pandas in the title. That counts doesn't it? ;-)

11. Yeah, this is it:
GODDIDIT.

End of discussion.

Seriously though, do a search on the "Wedge Document" and that should lead you to some interesting sources.
