Santorum: ‘Science Should Get Out Of Politics’
Rick Santorum is known for his insistence that religion has an important place in political life — and also for criticizing various examples of scientific consensus such as evolution, global warming, stem-cell research, human sexuality, and other matters. But in his latest pronouncement, he might have just outdone himself.

The Des Moines Register reports from a Santorum campaign stop at the University of Northern Iowa, where he talked about education:
Discussing controversial classroom subjects such as evolution and global warming, Santorum said he has suggested that “science should get out of politics” and he is opposed to teaching that provides a “politically correct perspective.”

This is what can happen to a deeply religious light weight mind with a tremendous ego.

4. It is truly scary when you realize that he is trying to impress the RW base with
this kind of garbage. I think this guy imagines himself next in line after Newt crashes and there'll be nowhere else for the base to turn but to him.

12. Is there anyone else
left in the race who hasn't been the flavor of the week yet? I'd actually forgotten about Santorum but it really is his turn now, isn't it? This is fun. I can't wait to see what takes Newt down.

5. Finally, a face for the failures of religion.
I wish the choice could be made even more blunt for people: Did you know that your petroleum was found by scientists who believe in evolution? If you want to go to heaven, you had better give up gasoline and learn to get around like the Amish do.

turning a two-year-old loose with a riding lawnmower.

8. Santorum is a moron of the highest order.
Between breaking up undocumented families, his "food stamps make people fat" statement, and now this... it reeks of desperation of trying to out crazy the rest of them.

If the republican base had any self-awareness, they'd be insulted by this moron and his aspirations to lead this country.

14. You know how extremely irrelevant Santorum is: the pastor of a
big church in Siuox City Cary Gordon endorsed him because his followers would not vote for a woman, Michele Bachmann. No to science, no to women in politics. Is Santorum Christian or Taliban?
