Meet to discuss role of religion in social causes
TNN | Nov 6, 2011, 12.22PM IST

PUNE: Prominent representatives from the Vatican City will be present during a four-day meeting between Christian and Hindu religious leaders, organised by Thomas Dabre, Bishop of Poona Diocese, from November 6 to 9, at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth in Ramwadi on Ahmednagar Road.

Entitled 'Enhancing Hindu-Christian Relations and Collaboration For Justice, Peace and Harmony,' the meeting will have participations by some 30 Hindu and Christian religious leaders from across India.

"The aim is to have a dialogue on what religion can do for social causes. It is an effort at strengthening communication and understanding between religions," said Dabre, at a press conference on Saturday. "It's a historic event organised in our city for the first time. Problems that have arisen from terrorism, fundamentalism and violence, all in the name of religion, require us to reflect on what is the nature and essence of religion, and why do we need religion. We will also be discussing what religion has to say about issues like degradation of women in society, poverty, equality of men and women, environmental preservation, and use and abuse of science and technology. We want to find answers to these issues."

"The Vatican certainly recognises the importance of our city, diocese and cathedral," he added.

1. Perhaps they should have a dialogue on how to deal with child-raping priests first.
Other than how to continue to hide and protect them.

2. There could be a thread about vichyssoise and you'd mention pedophilic priests.

5. The priests or the holiday food?
I guess warm. Either way, I prefer to be romanced first. Maybe a little wine. I dont even know what that Vichyfrance dish is, but maybe the priest could make it before hand?

By the way my wife is catholic and I attend mass every sunday. The above was a joke in good fun (but bad taste....get the pun). Please dont take it as an insult to anyone's theological beliefs.

7. I don't prefer child-rape at all, but apparently you do. WTF?
I mean its bad enough that you support and defend your church when it come to hiding and protecting child-rapists, but asking if one like it hot or cold?

A new low, even for you, rug.

8. I see. You can't even tell the difference between child rape and soup.
That's a sign of obsession.

9. Oh, I can, but you and your church seem unable, or unwilling, to differentiate.
You seem to be employing the RCC tactic of misdirection and obfuscation perfectly. Is this something they teach you there?

10. No, I'm pretty sure it knows the difference between soup and rape.
But your confusion worries me.
