Once Again Another Priest Is Arrested
Spanish priest arrested over '21,000 child porn images'

BBC News
12 November 2010 Last updated at 16:32 ET

A Catholic priest in Spain has been arrested over the alleged possession of thousands of images of child sex abuse. Police said they found 21,000 images on computers inside the 52-year-old's church in Vilafames, in the east of the country. The priest, who has not been named, has been bailed and will appear before a judge in a fortnight, media say.

The Segorbe-Castellon diocese said it had suspended the priest and was ready to clarify the facts in court. "If the accusation is true, this is something that hurts us deeply, that we sincerely regret and that we reject unreservedly," the El Pais newspaper quoted a statement from the diocese as saying. It said it would also offer the priest "the necessary means for a fair defence".

Spain has largely escaped the child sex abuse scandals that have hit the Catholic Church in many European countries and the US. But formal accusations have been made against a Carmelite monk in eastern Spain and Franciscan brothers in the south. Police also launched an investigation in May into three members of staff at a care home run by a Catholic order in Cordoba.

Spain has arrested hundreds of people for distributing child pornography in recent years. In May, police carried out almost 100 raids across the country after uncovering a network sharing abuse images. The country's biggest raid was in October 2008, when 121 suspects were detained.

- Well, I'll bet that the Pope is glad that they waited until the day after he left Spain before they arrested this wayward employee. I mean that would have been just plain awkward if they had picked him up on the same day he was criticizing the Spanish people for their sinful lifestyles.......

1. Like the Pope would care.
I'd be willing to bet that if an arrest like this were to happen in a country the Pope was currently visiting, he'd just blame it on secularism or whatever the bogeyman of the week is.

2. He's got to care a little, don't you think???
Especially when it starts hitting you at the box office. Need to keep them butts warming the seats each week to maintain the cash-flow, ya know? http://www.dici.org/en/news/poland-fewer-and-fewer-catholics-practicing/">And http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles_of_faith/2009/03/poll_finds_fewe.html">Sunday http://napavalleyregister.com/news/opinion/mailbag/article_7735c6d6-7c12-11df-9542-001cc4c002e0.html">turnover http://www.twincities.com/ci_16359940?source=most_emailed">is http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/religion/6873775.html">down. Of course they blame http://www.secularnewsdaily.com/2010/01/09/catholic-cardinal-blames-islamization-of-europe-on-atheists/">atheists for some of that. But it doesn't help much that they're having to sell everything they own in a down real estate market to pay all those abuse victim claims. Not to mention the lawyer's fees. For both sides.

And the laundry business ain't doing too good either......

Fact: The crimes committed by the "Spokesmen for Jesus" make the ones committed for Allah look like child's play.

5. As far as crimes against humanity are concerned......
...I'd say that all the Abrahamics are guilty. But of course they all began with the same irrational deity, thus they exhibit the same irrational behaviors.

"If a man would follow, today, the teachings of the Old Testament, he would be a criminal. If he
would follow strictly the teachings of the New, he would be insane."
