Poseidon is a real god and I can prove it to you in three easy steps.
Step 1) Believe Poseidon is real.

Step 2) Be open to all of the blessing bestowed upon you by Poseidon. These blessings may take many forms, such as acquiring a new job, winning a trophy or game, producing offspring, narrowly avoiding a car accident, etc.

Step 3) Recognize the perfect logic which states Poseidon blessings can only come from Poseidon.

Poseidon is real and sea creatures are afoot!

2. Works for me.
Every time I leave port for an extended voyage, I do pour a glass over the side as an offering to the sea god. I've gotten back safely so far. He must be real.

why do some wish to try to step on things which make others lives more meaningful, gives them hope, or helps them cope with impossible trials in their lives?

13. I will tell you one reason
When I was in my teens I was told by a neighbor family that I playing games with that I had to leave because a nun was coming over and she did not like people if they were not catholic. Up to that time and after i noticed sometimes what religion someone was but did not decide who I liked or disliked for their religion. So for over forty years i have studied religion and have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of leaders of religions out there that use religion to supress their followers and try to decide how everyone else should live. I say these people are evil and part garbage.

It is the leaders and some followers that try to cram their beliefs down others throats that are the ones that are being attacked and not the ones that just believe and try to live their lives as they see fit. Their god did not go around demanding everyone had to believe as he did just told the people what was out there and offered them a choice.

32. Yes I do know that
There are priests, reverends, ministers and just the common believers that try to just live their lives and try to help others. These people have over the years have become lost in the struggle to use god to achieve evil goals.

There are good Christians out there but their voices have been silenced by the louder voices of the mobs.

16. We who are not believers get tired of having others' beleifs shoved at us all the time.
we are expected to tiptoe respectfully around others' beliefs, yet we are also expected to sit quietly while our atheism or agnosticism is attacked or while we are forced or pressured into pretending to believe what we don't believe.

We are subjected to enforced group prayer in all sorts of places where public prayer is not appropriate or relevant. We are proselytized by believers. Our country's supposedly secular laws are often warped by religious considerations. Religious istitutions are subsidized by our tax dollars, so that they can then pour their extra money into attacking from the right to undermine rights for anyone who doesn't follow their own narrow religious program.

And then hen a nonbeliever says somethig to suggst that he/she cosdiers such eligious beleifs to be irrational, the bleivers act all hurt and wonder why we are so mean. I have to say, it does get really, really old.

I can't find it right now, but I have seen another cartoon here on DU about Christians crying eprsecution when atheists ask that they not be forced to kowtow to Christian beleifs. Does anyone have that one?

telling other people if they don't believe they're going to hell, etc.

17. Before I join your religion sir, I have to know one thing.....
...will Poseidon hate me because I'm addicted to seafood? I'm sorry, but I was born this way.

And another thing...... the closest sea to me is several hundred miles away. So will that disqualify me?

- And would I qualify for any special privileges because I used to be a lifeguard???
