S.C. Pastor Exposes 'Practical Atheists' among Christians
S.C. Pastor Exposes 'Practical Atheists' among Christians.

"I'm sick and tired of the fact that people can attend church for ten to 20 years and never change," said NewSpring Church Senior Pastor Perry Noble.

/snip

"I believe when it comes to prayer most Christians are actually superstitious rather than believers in the supernatural," he pointed out.

The humorous pastor expressed his belief in miracles and healings through prayer, which he acknowledged was possibly a rare belief.

At the same time, he also cautioned that sometimes God says "no" to prayers and sometimes He wants believers to obey and take action rather than just pray about it.

Noble stressed, no matter what happens – whether God says "no" or "yes" – He is still a great and glorious God because "our circumstances do not alter His character."

So rare that it never happens. As in NEVER.

Just don't ask Benny Hinn.

1. God doesn't say "yes" or "no." Non-existent entities can't speak.

Silly man. If he's hearing God speaking in his head, there's a pill for that.

9. The only person I have heard in my head is myself.
And depending on how pushed I am I will even give myself instructions verbally.

4. Prayer is our way to tell god that we are unhappy with his divine plan for us.

7. My favorite prayer is the one people say
after striking their thumb with a hammer. It's short and to the point: "JESUS CHRIST!"

It illustrates your point perfectly.

5. I'd argue that believing in God is by its very nature superstitious behavior
its not accurate that most Christians are actually superstitious: they all are including the pastor who expresses his belief in miracles.

11. Who called my name??? I distinctly heard someone call my name!
- You know you just can't go around calling my name without paying me for it! That'll be $19.95 plus tax!!! Thanks you Jesus!!!!!!

These dumbass preacher's are always puttin' the GUILT on someone else. I guess it never occurred to any of these bozos that maybe the reason why they're no better off after all these years of listening to this clown isn't because they're weak, but is because he's such a lousy fucking preacher!?!?! Eh????

- K&R!!!

Noble stressed, no matter what happens – whether God says "no" or "yes" – He is still a great and glorious God because "our circumstances do not alter His character."

But God's character, as described by his fan club, HAS altered. More than once. Just try discussing the strict Old Testament law with some believers - especially in the American South, or in R/T. :-)

They will tell you the O.T. laws were superseded by Jesus in the New Testament. And Jesus is 1/3 of God, I believe. So it wasn't so much that his character was "altered," it spun 180 degrees and changed completely.

Instead of the hot-tempered O.T. God who drowned the whole world in a flood, we get a new, loving God who simply burns his creations in fire for eternity. But only after that Armageddon stuff, which I would try to explain only I'm not currently under the influence of serious mind-altering drugs.

Oh well. As a native South Carolinian, Rev. Noble is a pretty small embarassment for me. Compared to Lindsey Graham, Bob Inglis, Joe Wilson, Strom Thurmond and starting the Civil War.

(Weird Historical Footnote: the largest Jewish veteran's cemetery in the world is located in Charleston, SC. It's a cemetery for Jewish veterans of the Confederate Army. You can look it up...)

On edit: Christa, thanks for your threads. I sometimes see whiners complaining about them, but I say keep up the good work.
