If non-Christian Jews can't distinguish between Judas and Jesus, then isn't it for the best that Jews wait for the future arrival of a messiah and refuse to put a stamp of approval on any specific contender for the "Messiah" title?

1. If Jesus and Judas were real people, I am sure the non-Christian Jews would have been able
to tell them apart by looking at them. Most people look different than other people.

3. In the New Testament, the most hostile and persistent enemies of Jesus can't recognize him on sight.

In the New Testament, some adherents of traditional Judaism were hostile to the reformist sect created by Jesus. For whatever reason, they accept Judas as being a reliable source of information about which of the disciples is the leader. Judas' act of betrayal is simply fingering Jesus for them. To be precise, Judas isn't impolite enough to point with a finger, but instead betrays with a kiss.

A complication is that Jesus himself says that his own death is an essential part of the plan of salvation, so the word "betray" is potentially somewhat confusing in this context.

2. Only the one's who got to see Jesus on the internet or on TV would know Judas was lying

Otherwise, some probably believed Judas was Jesus and didn't know Judas was lying.
